MMA/UFC did so much to get out of the dark ages and be considered a real sport.

Then you have this completely unqualified pro wrestler in CM Punk, who wants to skip the queue and become a UFC fighter.

The whole thing makes a major mockery of MMA and in particular the UFC.

It just shows that moneygrubs are in charge of the sport. Not people who actually care about sporting integrity.

As if selling the exclusive apparel rights to the UFC for a measly $140m over 7 years wasn't enough.

Now they want to pretend like their Welterweight division is legit. Joe Rogan was yamming about how we all know Robbie Lawler is the true Champ @ 170 lbs. False.

The UFC doesn't even have the integrity to just go ahead and FEED CM Punk to a fighter that will guarantee he takes a bad concussion.

The "sport" of MMA is a joke.

It definitely doesn't look good when they refuse to sign Askren and let go of guys like Fitch,Okami, and Shields yet sign CM Punk. All legitimacy goes out the window.

It was announced as $70 million but there's been a lot of talk that the deal was actually worth 140 million and the extra 70 million was Zuffas to keep without paying the fighters.

They say it was only 70 million, but we all know nobody is dumb enough to sign off on a deal that pathetic and low on funds.

I think if they're trying to claim legitimacy, with rankings, rules, stats, all that, then yeah. But the whole tent show carnie aspect of MMA is real and adds fun, for me, so what the hell. Dana White is Colonel Parker. If he throws Condit/Lawler my way, too, okay then.

Punk did not choose to skip the queue, or even ask to fight in the UFC. Dana and Lorenzo asked him. He even asked them if he should do TUF first. They said no.

Give the man some credit and respect him for trying to compete in a true sport before he's too old.

And Robbie Lawler is the true champion. How could you argue that he isn't?

Dana wants the attention that Vince McMahan's shows get on a weekly basis so he goes and signs a guy that has no past and then gives him what 2 years or so to train, anyother guy would have been see you bye. Then watch and see they will give him a cake fight with a homeless guy who they probably gave a bag full of reebok gear to to go easy on him. As far as the rankings, the UFC controls them and moves guys up or down because they want to, stats they erase as they please, legitimacy? Hardly

If Dana didn't sign him Coker would have. Should Brooks be there, no absolutely not, but the fact of the matter is he was going to go to one of the top 2 organizations, Dana scooped him up so Bellator couldn't. Like him or not, Brooks will bring in viewers

I hope CM gets knocked the fuck out
Why?

If he does well, isnt that credit to his work ethic and taking the opportunity seriously?

It's the UFC building the thing around his name and promises it before he was ready.
I say haters gonna hate. He walks on and loses bad, itll solve itself.
He wins, fuck it. What fighter would turn down the chance?

I just think it's sucks balls that a dude can just come in and join the UFC and fight , when some fighters have been training for a long long time and deserve that shot.

Plus , after Lesnar didn't like getting punched in the face ... Neither will this guy . I think it's a joke that they brought in James Toney as well and he likes getting punched in the face.

It disrespects the sport and the fighters that have been training their whole life for that chance

My 2 cents

It's not like he is taking a roster spot. There are like 550 guys on the UFC roster and more than half of them don't deserve to be there.

Agree with your post... Half those dudes barely ever fight ... They actually need to cut sime of the scrubs and washed up dudes. Plenty of young talent deserve some fights

Pride did this shit all the time. It was one of the things I disliked a lot about the show.

Here's my question, are you UFC fans or fans of fighters who fight in the UFC?

Dana's the one who salivates at it, CM Punk is just a naive guy with some need to prove something who showed interest Dana could have said no, people can pretend Coker would have... but would he have? I have to assume that if Bautista showed interest in fighting Lashley he would sign it. (Yes they have more pedigree than CM Punk but in Bautsita's case not a ton)

People know who the source of this one is, yet a lot just go:

"Uhh uhh well but without Dana etc etc etc" and rationalize this away

So stuck with this we are now. As a result they will never get 60 dollars (never have) or a ticket price out of me again. At best a chip-in on cost, which has been my compromise all along and if Dana could make it illegal to pitch in on a card with your friends somehow, he would.
