I thought that was strange. Not sure why they didn't taser his ass. People who mention nets - this would have been a good opportunity for one of those since I didn't see a weapon, but he was definitely acting aggressively and needed to be subdued. Is this protocol?
He had what i believe a taser in his hands, why did he throw it to the ground and pulled out his gun to holster it again and go for the takedown.
The taser is non lethal and he could just shock his ass to the ground and be done with, was the guy too close to him, or can it be if he fired the taser the other cops could shoot because they thought he shot a firearm?
Tackling the suspect - while it looks cool and worked in this case - isn't that intelligent. The guy could have had an easily-accessible knife in his pocket - or he could have reached for the cop's gun if they were to scuffle on the ground. I know the cops had him outnumbered 3-1, but it can happen fast.
It worked - but my guess is this isn't protocol.
But the cops in this video did a bunch of things right, like flanking the suspect. That's not something you always see. And anytime nobody gets shot you can chalk it up as a win.
