“Well, I reviewed this open letter, and it turns out that only around 100 of the 270+ signatories to the letter are people with qualified medical degrees,” Schachtel reported. “And a large chunk of that 100 or so medical doctors are MDs employed at universities who are not in fact practitioners of medicine.”

Schachtel additionally pointed out that the misleading nature of these reports were only emboldened by a part of the open letter that read “As physicians, we bear the arduous weight of a pandemic that has stretched our medical systems to their limits”, which set the stage for this group of signatories to misrepresent themselves.

In a rather funny twist, Schachtel said the letter itself demanding restrictions on misinformation is misinformation itself, noting by his count that the letter included random signatures from “over 50 PhD academics, around 60 college professors, 29 nurses, 10 students, 4 medical residents, and even a handful of… science podcasters.”

In another thread I said something about how nobody's actually arguing against science or scientist, but just the distilled media, headlines and bias.

Even here you guys are just falling for straw men arguments. Let's just go to the letter. Did they claim they are a letter of doctors? Or was that media and now that's being used to attack the original writers?

We are a coalition of scientists, medical professionals, professors, and science communicators spanning a wide range of fields such as microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, and neuroscience

And since the guy who brilliantly wrote an article about how he exposed them, not being doctors even linked to the original, if he actually read it, he's well aware that they never claimed that they're all doctors. And yet he wrote some entire blog piece tilting at windmills for clicks and outrage.

But what about the portion where they mentioned physicians? Oh he took that out of context too.

As scientists, we face backlash and resistance as the public grows to distrust our research and expertise. As educators and science communicators, we are tasked with repairing the public’s damaged understanding of science and medicine. As physicians, we bear the arduous weight of a pandemic that has stretched our medical systems to their limits and only stands to be exacerbated by the anti-vaccination sentiment woven into this and other episodes of Rogan’s podcast.

Y'all being played like violins for clicks.

I gave you a "winner" because apparently CMNH is gone; you probably won't see another star unless @Lars (ADMlN) is wearing one on his arm during a virtual visit.
