GM paid off their loan.
But I don't think that's an apples to apples based on what the airlines are going through.

I don't see this downturn being anything close to the housing crash. Once we are clear in a month or so, we'll be back in business as a nation.

People aren't going to stop flying. Hell, people are still flying now.

But if you let these big guys go under, that's when you can start talking about a very slow recovery.
Good points. But why not start sending money towards the consumer, halt mortgage for those affected, etc. We need the workforce and the consumer back as much as we need the big companies. While GM paid off their loans, their workers were striking due to still working under 2008 policies, pay reduction, hours, etc, while they were getting fat at the top. We bailed them out to safe the workers, not to get fat and move to China.

I'd loan the airlines money with strict guidelines that their workers were paid as if they were working. No stock buybacks until the loan was paid in full. That keeps that part of the economy stable.

It's a way to hit the pause button and let everyone come out OK. It's not letting some rich dude get even richer - at least it shouldn't be.

You and I have really been on the same page but I disagree here. The more you're outside and not self quarantined the more you're at risk to contract it. I had to go to Rite Aid this morning which I really didn't want to but medial facilities are a hot bed of potentially catching it. My doctor even told me the same being I'm at a bit of a risk at the moment.

I can’t disagree with that. It’s a weird situation....more tests means more data to make informed decisions but more tests also requires more resources that are needed to treat the sick. So honestly I’m a little torn. If folks just stayed inside and we’re extra careful (as yourself) I think we can get away with more limited testing but some folks won’t listen until they’re told they have the diseases.

I do like what SK is doing with those walk in booths but how do they disinfect those booths between tests?

There are no easy answers here, that’s for sure!

that's why SK has drive-up and walk-up testing sites, all over the country

it's the throughput that needs to be high to keep people from queuing up with a bunch of infected people.

You'd think that with guys like this in charge the Anglo-Saxon world wouldn't be so worried...

Seriously SK seemed to swarm on this so damned quickly and effectively.

lueVelvet @lueVelvet I was wondering about the sanitising of the stations as well but I've really been wishing we could adopt the same in the western world. Many westerners assume they're a third world country but they got into gear so quick.

If I get a fever or aching joints, bones etc. I'll phone in and go get a test, but I'm not budging from my sofa and bed for the next few days. I have no need to.

A lot of talking during this press conference without saying anything.
