We have over 600 new cases in a big slaughterhouse.
These things are a problem too over there right? Working conditions seem ideal for this virus to spread.

I work for one. It's pretty bad. We have testing going on but little too late now. One of the forklift operators died from that shit. Cool dude. Half of my department got it bad. No distancing at all. Some of them come back before they're ok.

Remember two months ago when Florida was stopping New Yorkers upon entry at airports and at the Florida-Georgia land border and telling them they were required to quarantine?

I don't think the governor understands it's people from NY that travel to Florida and ruin it. Who the fuck wants to go from Florida to NY?

Just got the call, going back on 29th.

I kinda said fuck it in my head already and was planning to go back to the UK, so my lease here is done on 30th June. Time to find somewhere to live

meat packing/canning places are horrible. Cool, moist, lots of fans blowing, everyone working in close quarters and talking at the top of their lungs all day...I think the same is true and worse for huge open-air food markets.

Are these the foreign security guards from the third-party company hired by the government?
Yes. The 'foreignness' only matters in the context of their often limited English skills and complete lack of any training. It's not like a homegrown security guard is going to be any better other than having English skills.

And the health officials are still blaming them as if entrusting public health and the economy to random untrained security guards isn't the problem. It's like asking a dog to guard a steak and then getting pissed off at the dog when he eats it.

that's the next county over, and I'm really torn on this one. But this story pretty much embodies where I'm at: the gov't shouldn't have the power to tell you how to run your business, but they shouldn't have to force you to be a responsible human being.

He was right in not enforcing the lockdown order, but he was irresponsible (at best) for holding a campaign event where the virus was undoubtedly spread due to the lack of precautions.

Seems like a fair take to me.

Reasons for Florida's exploding case numbers, according to Governor Ron DeSantis:

  • We're testing more people, guys. More people = more positive tests (positive test rate increases)

  • Guys we're testing younger people who are asymptomatic and don't go to hospitals (Hospitals report dwindling number of ICU beds available)

  • IMMIGRANTS!!!!!!!! (<-- You are here)

My brother said he has had 6 of his construction sites shut down in the past two weeks because of workers falling sick and testing positive. From March to June he only had 1 site shut down for the same reason.

If by extension they blame the farm owners, I am cool with it. Fucking welfare queens.
