The relevant part of the article for those looking to save time:

While the virus was detectable for an average of about two-and-a-half weeks in the entire group, a significant portion of the children—about a fifth of the asymptomatic patients and about half of the symptomatic ones—were still shedding virus at the three week mark.

you want to go have a drink in a bar and the police can remove you for testing? Where are our rights? This will come to your country also. Because we were one of the first who closed everything. In the beginning of march, when everyone else was living as if nothing was going on

Not to mention run scary B-roll footage in the background, call in another reporter for backup and shut it down.
"We've Lost Control!"

They wanted that Doc to just repeat their bullet point list of fear so badly.

[Your Coronavirus Test Is Positive. Maybe It Shouldn’t Be.

On Thursday, the United States recorded 45,604 new coronavirus cases, according to a database maintained by The Times. If the rates of contagiousness in Massachusetts and New York were to apply nationwide, then perhaps only 4,500 of those people may actually need to isolate and submit to contact tracing.

Most tests set the limit at 40, a few at 37. This means that you are positive for the coronavirus if the test process required up to 40 cycles, or 37, to detect the virus.

Tests with thresholds so high may detect not just live virus but also genetic fragments, leftovers from infection that pose no particular risk — akin to finding a hair in a room long after a person has left, Dr. Mina said.

Any test with a cycle threshold above 35 is too sensitive, agreed Juliet Morrison, a virologist at the University of California, Riverside. “I’m shocked that people would think that 40 could represent a positive,” she said.

“It’s just kind of mind-blowing to me that people are not recording the C.T. values from all these tests, that they’re just returning a positive or a negative,” one virologist said.

"The C.D.C.’s own calculations suggest that it is extremely difficult to detect any live virus in a sample above a threshold of 33 cycles."

"In Massachusetts, from 85 to 90 percent of people who tested positive in July with a cycle threshold of 40 would have been deemed negative if the threshold were 30 cycles, Dr. Mina said. “I would say that none of those people should be contact-traced, not one,” he said."

Correct.

But that's expected. It's rather unusual for someone to die of only one singular cause and also its unusual for us to fill out death certificates with only one single cause (the source of the data).

You get COVID19 and end up with respiratory failure, sepsis, and multiorgan failure. Even in a health person that dies, you'd be unlikely to have just COVID19.

Beyond that though, reading the data continues to highlight that America's chronic health problems leave us with little reserve to absorb physiologic insults of any kind, including this. This isn't much of a fix now, but it should be eye opening. Car wreck, surgery, pregnancy, COVID19, flu... The american system that leads to high obesity rates with the associates disease burden leaves a more fragile population.
