This is Dana trying to assert himself as the "alpha male", to show Conor and everyone else that he's the boss. Well the UFC needs the Conor McGregor's and Ronda Rousey's of the world, because they're the big money draws. Without the big stars, the UFC doesn't have a pot to piss in.

I think a guy like Conor has the potential to be a real game changer and shake up the UFC, break new ground and make it so that fighters have more pull. Conor should stick it to them for every penny he can.

Morale is at an all time low among the UFC fighters by all accounts, everyone is bummed about the Reebok deal. Cracks are starting to form in the UFC's foundation.

Trying to buy Conor some more time to prepare while Nate's crew is poppin' bottles at an EDM club in Vegas, courtesy of the UFC.

This is getting irritating.
Don't want to see this fight.

Get Nate vs Ferguson on 200. Winner fights RDA/Alvarez winner.

Dumb move. UFC needs Conor more than Conor needs the UFC.

I'd love to see Conor get out of his contract and promote his own fights!
i dont think it matters really, if conor left the UFC do you really think people would stop watching it? I dont.

ive heard this said before but who would he fight ?
Hmmm good question bro but I think this would be a good way to lure people out of the UFC during free agency.

For example, Aldo's contract is up. McGregor's management says "listen Jose we'll do Aldo/Jose 2 in Dublin, it'll draw crazy amounts of people, we will sell it on PPV, you'll get a bigger share of the purse than you ever would with UFC and you can wear your own advertising." Or Diaz, Edgar, RDA, ect ect

I think this would be the first step into setting MMA up like boxing, where guys can fight who they want and they have much more negotiation power.

A guy like Conor needs to follow the Floyd Mayweather blue print. Floyd bought himself out of a shitty contract with Bob Arum and started co-promoting his own fights and being his own boss and made CRAZY fuckin loot. I think Conor can do the same thing.

It's not about people watching or following the UFC, it's about people hitting that BUY button on their TV screens and handing over $60 to watch a PPV. Nobody sells more PPVs than Conor so the question is do I feel like people will still buy PPVs in as great a number without Conor and of course not, nobody would argue that except maybe Delusional Dana.

So you think if Conor left the PPV market would dry up and the UFC would be in financial trouble? Really? lol well everyone has their opinion I guess i can respect that

think something like this could be attractive to an aging fighter ,or someone like Jose who could have this one last big fight and just cash out but there is no guarantees the event would even do well , think im just used to the idea of the big promotion ( ufc )

This is my take. I think Conor is doing this because he knows that if Nate gets into it with him during these events he will get owned. He talked and talked and talked and generally he backed it up so he just continued to talk until "on a holiday Nate" shut him up. What ammo can he use at these marketing events? He got his ass handed to him. I think this is his way of getting paid and getting away with having to do press where he would look like a clown.

He will fight at UFC 200 against Nate, Zuffa and Conor both know it, this is all a ploy to still market the fight but not make Conor look like a fool at these media events.
I was thinking that too. He talked so much smack on Aldo and Mendes. He used, "they are small, they hit like FlyWeights, then LW division is stuck in the mud, Size doesn't matter". So if he said that before when he was successful, what does he say now vs Nate?? My guess is he would have to make excuses why he lost and Nate would most likely win every single argument they go on to promote. The press conference at Stockton would be a place Conor gets booed of he's seat, and don't think he wants to go through that.

When he was winning it was he's liking, but now coming of a loss not sure he wants to promote and be on the making excuses side. I also don't think he will fight at UFC 200 anymore he gambled vs Dana and Zuffa called he's bluff. In a way it's good cause no one person is bigger than the UFC. Imagine if Dana caves in all the top 3 stars could pull this stunt too.

i know absolutely nothing about how much money it would cost to hold and promote a big fight but im guessing it would be a hell of a lot more than what Connor has , without a big money backer i couldn't see anything like this working

I wish BLAF would find more use & creative ways to flex his sphincter.

I'm sure the UFC will carry on, but hopefully this has long-term positive effects for fighters.

So do you want to talk rationally or do you want to get on with your ad hominem?

Nobody said the UFC would shrivel up and die without Conor. It was around before Conor and will remain after Conor. But the fact is, it's the big ticket stars that draw the big money into the UFC - the GSPs, Brock Lesnars, Rouseys, McGregors, ect - and the day they run out of their big draws, YES, that's the day when they are in big trouble. So why piss off the biggest draw you currently have?

And the fact that you'd compare a card that the Diaz bros promoted years ago (and didn't fight on, btw) to a Conor McGregor-promoted card where Conor is main eventing with a top 145/155/170lber shows how ass-backwards your thinking process is. Do I really need to explain the difference to you? Are you that clueless? My god, man.

Or, ya know, it might be attractive to someone who likes to get paid a lot of money to fight. Someone who would get a bigger % of the gross and wear whatever sponsorship they want.

it was worth about 3.5 billion before Conor so im sure he helped the bottom line of the UFC but they are in no way gonna suffer if he was to leave. Jones/DC is alot better Main than Conor losing to Diaz again.

Yeah, because what company ever suffered from losing it's biggest asset lol.

Who needs a guy who can sell over a million PPVs when you have Mighty Mouse, who can sell over 100,000 PPVs. And that's no disrespect to MM but come on.

Look up business basics, ol wikipedia makes it real easy to learn now adays bro haha
