And Khabib is gonna join a long list of guys with zero title defenses.

No question IMO that Tony deserves the shot, and Conor getting an unearned rematch is a joke. Not like the first fight was even remotely competitive. That said, watching Conor get humiliated by Khabib again would be even better the second time. But he should DEFINITELY have to beat a ranked contender first. Shame he won't have to, since he'd likely lose to Tony too and then the Conor hype would be irreparably damaged.

I would like to see Tony and Khabib finally get at it but will take Conor and Tony for number one spot.

Now Tony is rightfully the number one contender but he deserves a payday and to be honest dont see him struggling to hard with Conor.

As a big Conor fan. Just no. Have Conor start somewhere in the middle. But money fights are everything.

There's a short-term upswing but even that gets negated when the winner was so dominant in the first match. The result is little build up and less anticipation, so add one more to the list of silly immediate rematches:
  • Rose/Joanna
  • TJ/Cody
  • Holloway/Aldo
We could add these to the list
  • Weidman/Silva
  • Shamrock/Ortiz
Edgar vs Henderson 2 put an abrupt end to Edgar's presence in the lw division.

If Conor loses to Khabib again his star will be almost completely faded. He'll still be a decent draw. But nowhere near the same level.

And that's why it's such a bad decision. If it goes like the first match then the UFC will have decisively eliminated their #1 draw, and for what?
