Why? Its one in the same. The rules are the rules and how you want them enforced is with a Iron fist. You don't get to pick and choose because of your opinions. A banned substance is a banned substance. You can bring out any stat you want about how dope doesn't help and shouldn't be banned and how ignorant people are , but simple fact it is illegal. Its that easy man, If its on the list just don't do it
I agree. Nick Diaz was rightfully banned simply because weed is against the rules.

That doesn't make weed use and estrogen blocker usage the same thing. People can be banned for certain head-ache medicine I am sure. But that doesn't make these folks automatic juicers, unless shady shit like estrogen blockers, testosterone creams are being used.

Is Nick Diaz a juicer? No, it never has been proven just because he got caught with weed.
Is Lesnar a juicer? the tests suggests that the possibility is high.
Is Bones a juicer? the tests suggests that the possibility is high.

Do they all deserve punishment because these fighters are ultimately are responsible for what they take? Yes.

You see where we agree and disagree?

Yes but under the rules they are all the same. The penalty for failing 2 tests for dope is the same as failing 2 for PEDs.

Saying dope isnt a ped is kind if a grey area to me in reality. It may not give you visible results like roids but it does allow some to relax and focus better. This leads to better training sessions and better rest which helps the body recover. Will dope give you bigger muscles or faster reactions, no. Will it help you rest and recover faster so you can train more, yes. Which in turn allows you to train harder and possibly longer than someone not on the dope.

Weed to roids as a PED is like comparing Tylenol to Oxycontin. They both work but..........
That is what I was aiming at. But the concequences should remain the same, agree or not agree. And based on what somebody is caught for, that will sway public opinion and arguably diminish one's legacy. While Nick smoked his balls off and got caught numerous times, I would not put an asterisk by his MMA record due to the nature of the offense. Painkillers I also tend to ease up about.

You have to draw the line somewhere and you never want to hear about people fighting when on any substance. Unfortunately dope takes forever to clear your system compared to other shit.

Luke Thomas from MMA Fighting has honestly had the most level headed point of view out of anyone else I have read or listened to in the MMA-sphere. If this whole USADA thing is going to work, there needs to be due process for the athletes. When you come right out and publicly say "they've been flagged for a potential violation", they are often times seen as guilty in the court of public opinion (especially someone with as shakey a past as JBJ). Once you get branded with the "doper" tag, it never really goes away.

As far as the whole "yeah but you should KNOW what you're putting into your body" argument...yeah, I get it...to a point. Truthfully, I can barely understand what I put into my body. Are these guys supposed to be chemists? Maybe someone like Jon Jones should be able to afford to have people around him who can explain what he can and can not take, but the average fighter can not.

If you're making the argument that he should have disclosed every supplement he was taking so USADA could let him know if it was OK, that makes a little more sense. Let's keep in mind that your average MMA fan (including myself) has had zero interaction with USADA, and have no idea of helpful or not helpful their offices may be in answering fighter questions. It's easy to forget that anti-doping agencies have a somewhat questionable history of integrity (just ask boxing fans about USADA).

The bottom line is this:

1) Jones was guilty in the court of public opinion before any real evidence became clear. Is his personal history poor? Yes. Does this mean that he is automatically guilty? No.
2) Fighters deserve due process.
3) None of us REALLY know anything.
4) None of this renders moot the fight that Jon Jones is arguably the greatest talent that this sport has ever seen.
EXACTLY. Brock and Jones labeled as cheaters and we still don't know what the hell really happened. They could be both be Romero or Tim Means situations.

Many fans and media automatically assume "cheater" so it's up to USADA or whoever to fix how they release this information so they don't carelessly kill the image of someone who is innocent

However, UFC interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones recently failed a PED test, and middleweight champion Michael Bisping said during a recent podcast that it appears Jones’ failure legitimately was due to Cialis. It is not clear how Bisping learned the information, but both Jones and league president Dana White recently said that the failure appeared not be of a nature that would lead to a long suspension. This would be that.

The revelation came on the latest The Countdown with Michael Bisping podcast.

“It turns out Jon Jones didn’t take the estrogen blockers or whatever it was and, therefore, he may be coming back sooner rather than later,” said Bisping, as transcribed by Thomas Myersfor MMA Mania. “I hear that the supplement in question — and it’s not even a supplement — was a sex aid, Cialis, but it was a generic version — it wasn’t the brand name. It apparently has estrogen blockers in it. That’s what he took and he’s maybe just looking at a little slap on the wrist.”

I don't know what to believe anymore, but I can tell you that not all people who take Cialis have actual erectile issues. Some people just rrrrreeeeaaaalllllyyyy like to party.

I get what you're saying bro..but..barely any people have tested positive in comparison to who is tested (if we are to assume the number of 80-90% roiders is true, then people cycle correctly). Then the Yoel and means situation has already been beaten to death and the odds that this is another of those special cases gets more sparse the more you look at it..haven't heard anyone getting busted who admitted it(hell Jones' press conference was the closest anyone has)

This. I've taken it once or twice to keep it up through multiple back-to-back sessions.

Because that's just how I get down

In the end it is illegal as stated by the contract Nick signed. He's fortunate enough that the company that he works for has some leniency towards the situation. Most other jobs would've given him the axe or forced him into rehabilitation. Not a performance enhancer on the scale of steroids or try but the guy signed a contract with the rules clearly stated that weed is frowned upon.

Should be happy he still has a job on the big stage. But Diaz will keep up with his "I'm a victim" storyline because fans eat up that wanna be gangsta shit.

Jones clearly juiced, his T levels were fucked before the first Cormier fight and that should've been a dead giveaway to anybody who knows better. This dicks pills shit seems to be the fall back excuse to the post USADA fighters who get pinched. To think otherwise is naive.

Mendes and his skin cream? C'mon now!

I actually think the Mendes one was legitimate, from what I have heard. This doesn't refute your claim, though.
