Dexit?

The fact is that Germany is the largest economy, the largest member of the EU, and no one in their right mind in Germany is going to oppose the EU, something that has worked miracles for them. Without the EU Germany would have been in another place. What data do you need, when it is general knowledge to anyone who has followed the developments of the EU.
There are a few opposing it, and the Euro in particular. Worked miracles? Do you mean economy or generally political standing after the war?

You may disregard all you like, or disprove what you can, or even dislike my views. But this back and forth about data and numbers get a bit tedious for me. A German will of course never oppose the EU, that is only logical.
Well, if you gonna make big claims, have something behind it.. 😀
I'm not a fan of Stammtisch-Diskussionen (I hope you know what that means as a Dutch, dunno if there is an English equivalent), banking on feelings rather than on facts.

Also I do not want to get into personal back and forths based on where you are from as I respect you as a poster.
Same. Nothing personal. I can be challenging to anyone at times.

but if the terms are not preferred by all involved then they should have the choice to leave without this aimed ridicule.
Agreed, but if I feel they made that decision for the wrong reasons and badly informed..
And if they wanna leave, then leave, don't break up and be all like: "But can we still have sex? Will you still cook for me? Oh, and, I will still live here for another couple months." No bitch, get out. 😀

Interesting.
I would not put that past Schäuble, he is a little fucker. However, that Varoufanikis or whatever his name is.. well.. not big on him either, of course he is gonna talk shit and there are always two sides of the story, or well, I guess even more, it wasn't just us who were involved there.
Greece has problems because they mismanaged, that much should be clear.
And yeah, it could be at least partly happenstance as well. They could have invested that money somewhere else as well..

Yes initially.
Many would argue this problems are exacerbated by using the Euro which didn't let the currency appropriately devalue with the crushed economy. They then were given a 'deal' that left them the slave to the lender with rules that have slowed the fall but also the recovery.

It is at the core of the arguments against these types of heavy handed political unions among countries so vastly different in economy and political as structure.

Do you mean economy or generally political standing after the war?
Economically.

Germany benefits from weak euro policies it deplores

Well, if you gonna make big claims, have something behind it.. 😀

I have my opinion, and you may argue it, then you back it up, or choose not to believe it. That works for me. This is not an academic setting, this is not work. But I do believe I mostly supply somewhat of an explanation, and am always open for corrections.

They're simply not. You deal with a large chunk of the population that voiced they wished they stayed. It's the half that wanted to remain that wants to have sex with you. In fact I gave them your number, there's quite a line, get to work.

The breakup is more like, Germany is the crazy ex you kindly told you don't love her anymore and now is keying your car...lol.

Stammtisch-Diskussionen

Not familiar, interesting though.

According to a poll, 48% of the Dutch are willing to leave the EU much like Britain did. The constitution however, hinders a referendum on numerous technicalities. I know it's just a poll, and the possibilities are problematic constitutionally speaking, but this still indicates exiting the EU is massivley being considered compared to just a few years ago. This sentiment may also develop into a larger movement. These people are not simply misinformed or retarded, there are serious issues causing this disaffection.

God damn forgot this thread for a bit. 😀

I agree they shouldn't have joined the Eurozone to begin with, or let into it, unless their economy was up for it.

Yeah, have you read that article fully?

So wait, if you have an opinion, its OK not to back it up, but if I would oppose your opinion, I have to back it up?
Doesn't sound very fair now, does it?

Na, Germany is the dude you broke up with, but you still want to live in his house (now there is talk they don't want to start the process this year) and use his car for a very long time, at best ever.

Dutch narrowly against Nexit referendum, but 70% of low educated are in favor - NL Times
The disaffection is real, but you can't say there is not a connection there.

This arrogance about people that want their own fate in hands is what got Germany, and will continue to get Germany and the EU.

Regarding what?

The Dutch poll? Words like retarded were brought into it by you.. misinformed doesn't mean dumb, I see it in our own media and our own people as well..

The analogy of breaking up? How am I wrong here? They want to exit, and we want them to do it fast and clean. They are now stalling and still want benefits... its clear as day 😵

I am not saying you are wrong. I am saying it you view things differently because you are German. You will not see fault in the German lead EU, ever, and why should you? So I am not trying to convince you, but rather offer you a perspective from outside Germany.
You ask for data. I chuckle. And so it goes...

Uneducated doesn't mean misinformed. It implies that people who can't afford education are unknowing what happens around them socially and politically. Hence I called you out on your arrogance.

Germany got...

There are obviously Germans who see it differently than me, hence this topic. If you say my stance is arrogant, then yours is as well, 'you can't see clearly/objectively because you are German'.

So I am not trying to convince you, but rather offer you a perspective from outside Germany.

Well you are not offering much if you just post an opinion without any substance (changed in our discourse).

Uneducated doesn't mean misinformed. It implies that people who can't afford education are unknowing what happens around them socially and politically. Hence I called you out on your arrogance.
So education is only based on being able to afford it? Is the Netherlands a country where its hard to get a degree when your grades are good nowadays?
Personally I do think it is easier to mislead lesser educated people via the media.

The thing is, of course the Netherlands could be struggling big times, and I just don't know about it. But you didn't offer specifics on that other than saying that there is disaffection and a poll. That is not giving me much insight in what gripes they actually do have.
Except of course, if it would just be because Germany is doing fine, that we talked about, but could that be the only reason? Would be weird.

What do you mean, I further elaborate on my opinion, and you need again more substance on that explanation. If you say I am full of shit doesn't make it so.

The English just spoke up for themselves, stopping something that got too big and out of control. Something Germany has historically not been able to do due to their arrogance or ignorance.

I don't think Germany goes anywhere. This is a minority party and Germany has done quite well in the Greece "deal". But the migrant crisis puts Merkel in a populist hot seat.

Also I love her:

But I can see other countries following suit. I'd just be real surprised if Germany was next. Can't even imagine it.
UKIP are a minority party.

That was a general point, I'm not saying you are full of shit.

The English just spoke up for themselves, stopping something that got too big and out of control.
That romanticizes the situation quite a bit.
So what are they stalling for? Why does Bregret exist? Why are their politics in turmoil now? Why did Johnson troll out?

Something Germany has historically not been able to do due to their arrogance or ignorance.
Historically that is a super ignorant statement, really. 😉

make germany great again. would be nice to see them get a pick of immigrants instead of taking in refugees. take the best and brightest in who will improve your country.
