I don't think it always was, But it's interesting that these are the qualities of so many current folk heroes in the sphere.Amazing how that is a "conservative".
Even elected politicians aren't very conservative in the things that get the base going. Think about the GOP in Florida who just went after Disney's tax status, not because it was bad tax policy, but because Disney opposed them publicly.
That's easy corruption in normal times.
