I posted on this when the verdict was announced. The race of the victims was significant because Holtzclaw deliberately targeted low or no income black women with histories of drug use because he felt the prospects of getting caught were substantially lower. It also was relevant because of how Oklahoma PD responded initially to several complainants allegations. Most disturbing was that he was a formal suspect, but was not removed from active duty and raped his final victim while under investigation.
I don't see how the race of the victims is important. He's equally a piece of shit for what he did regardless of race. The department is also a piece of shit for enabling him. If we keep allowing race to be a reason for things this racial divide that's been growing will continue to grow. We need to stop give race so much power. It's insane.
Race wasn't the reason he did this, he did this because he is a sick fuck.

I agree with you for the most part. I tend to feel this particular issue was more about class and abuse of power, but because of his racialization of the victims and the current attention on police activity in black communities, race became relevant.
No the news and the pc outraged public made it about race instead of about what it was, a sick fuck doing horrible shit to women and abusing his power as a cop.
As I understand it, he specifically racially profiled his rape attacks to target black women. I think that's all that's being said.

At first a racist rapist sounds worse than a normal rapist but if you think about it, less people are being targeted.

No what I was getting at is, all of his victims were black that means their race is important, 3 out 5 or whatever you'd say that's chance. 100% is targeting.
