I think the evidence and his lies (gain of function) have been pretty much proven already.
It just depends on whether or not the powers-that-be want to hold him accountable. Does he become the fall guy for this clusterfuck, or do they try to sweep the entire thing under the table?

Fauci was the head of the dragon on protocols. Or at minimum the mouthpiece.
As far as gain of function - he denied he was involved or that it happened. Emails were found that proved not only was he involved - it 100% happened at the Wuhan lab. I don't know if it changes the treatment approach, but he straight up lied to Congress. If he goes down, that's what he'll go down for.
But again - I don't think he does. Enough people made ill-advised moves along the way through all of this - as we wind out of it, I'm sure everyone is in ass-covering mode.

If this pandemic exposed anything, it's that our leaders aren't very intelligent.
I think it exposed how politically motivated they are. I mean the data for the most part was out there for all to see. It's impossible for them to not know that transmission outside was extremely unlikely or that masks were ineffective. Literally impossible.
And let's not forget the censorship against anyone offering an opinion that wasn't lock-step with the announced guidance. To some degree, this is still happening.
