Former NFL Pro Bowl defensive end Greg Hardy is set to return to the mixed martial arts cage.

The 29-year-old Hardy, who trains with the American Top Team, will compete in an amateur heavyweight bout at LFA 33 in Dallas on Feb. 16.

The 2-0 Hardy will meet Ryan Chester (2-1).

Hardy scored stoppage wins in 32 seconds and 1:36, respectively, in his first two amateur bouts.

Being a former NFL player then doing mma sounds like a guaranteed way to get CTE.

His problem is the same one Herschel Walker had...age. Herschel probably could have been one hell of a mixed martial artist if he got into the sport 15 years earlier than he did. Same with Hardy. But respect to both of them for giving it a go.

Looks like Hardy's trying to fast-track himself to the UFC. And he's only 29, although the years in the NFL may have taken their toll. If you're a pro athlete, beating up cans is one thing, the UFC is another. The other thing is, I wonder if the UFC would touch this guy, given his domestic abuse background. ... that aside, at least he's starting from the bottom, unlike someone else *cough* CM Punk *cough*

Damn, I didn't really he's only 29. He probably has another 6-7 good years left in him, especially being a HW.

Yeah I just checked it. Oh and he's also got a coke possession charge on his record. Greg Hardy - Wikipedia iirc he's a guy that no one in the NFL wanted, not because of his lack of ability, but the other stuff

29 is nothing considering he is a heavyweight....he could be an exciting prospect if he keeps improving.
