Broken Britain: Horror knife haul after amnesty bins in THIS county are emptied

Gigantic steel swords and kitchen knives were among the blades handed over to police when they offered citizens the chance to give in their deadly weapons and face no charge.

An estimated 15,000 knives were discovered when detectives oversaw the emptying of the containers.

Inventive disguises for the knives were discovered when the bins were emptied - one even being disguised inside a mobile phone case.

Insp Darren Deex said: “Some of the knives would qualify as offensive weapons, and it’s really important these weapons are off the streets. We will continue to raise awareness of the dangers of carrying weapons, in particular knives, with our partners.”

So, he said: “I would urge all those with any role in relation to knives - manufacturers, shops, the police, local authorities, the government - to consider preventing the sale of long pointed knives, except in rare, defined, circumstances, and replacing such knives with rounded ends.
