Does Tonon have any striking history? like maybe he did karate as a kid or something? He looked pretty good standing up imo. Good first test in MMA

Tonon is a member of the Danaher Death Squad, a Tom DeBlass black belt who trained Gordon and Nicky Ryan. He's one of, if not THE top no gi grappler in the world. Multi class EBI champion, ADCC vet, just a BEAST. He's only been training striking for a few months seriously, so this is a huge win against a legit striker (they set this up as a "striker vs grappler" match).

Garry is also a super nice guy, that whole Renzo Gracie lineage (Renzo, Danaher, Matt Serra, Ricardo Almeida, Tom DeBlass, Frankie Edgar, Tonon, Gordon and Nicky, Eddie Cummings, Octavia Bourdain, Frank Rosenthal, etc) all PHENOMENAL grapplers, and awesome people.
