Damn. Data show his pacemaker stopped on Feb. 17.

Crazy, I've run on dead guys who were still "twitching" from their pacemaker even though there was no cardiac activity and they were very obviously dead.

So does that mean his pacemaker indicates that he died at that moment or that it just stopped on the 17th regardless?
If it stopped thats probably why/when he died.
I know there's newer devices on the market and he was a wealthy man, but usually they keep going after the meat it's hooked up to stops working.
If he also had an implanted defibrillator that could have drained the battery quickly as it kept trying to shock him into a viable rhythm.
I'm very curious about this.

The devices now have very extensive memory. You can just scroll back to the last intrinsic heartbeat date & time as well as the last captured beat and a wide array of rhythm event logs/diagnostics. I used to do it a lot at the local medical examiner office when I worked with pacers and ICDs. That and pick up 5 gallon buckets of devices from funeral homes that had been removed for cremation or by family choice.

They are saying Hackman died several days before his wife. I thought they had said she died several days before him. And the pills they found, Tylenol, a thyroid medicine and a blood pressure medicine, don't seem like what you'd take to commit suicide.
