I’ve been playing golf for about 30 years. Totally self-taught. I remember buying a golf teaching program on VCR called Automatic Golf. Lately, of course, I use YouTube. I pretty much play bogey golf but I have a great time. This year, I got a membership to a golf course and have been playing quite a bit and decided to quit fucking around and take lessons. I had a 2 hour assessment the other day and it was great. I’m going to take a lesson every week this year and hope to bring my handicap down to 10. Obviously my biggest area of improvement will come with my short game, but he has some tweaks to my swing that should improve that as well, not transferring my weight forward, that kind of thing. One thing that surprised me though, was he asked me what my driver carries, and I told him around 220-225. Turns out I carry like 240! I was pretty stoked about that. My instructor says that I should be able to go quite a bit further when my swing improves. Hope everyone else is able to play a lot.

I think I might sign up to the local course, my wife and I enjoy playing but it's been sporadic over the years, this will give us some quality time to ruin a perfectly good walk.

Drive for show, chip & putt for dough. The short game can add or remove 6-7 shots a round to your score. I’ve always struggled with chipping.

we have a 9 hole chip and putt in the area, it's crazy fun and frustrating, longest hole is 100.

I’m actually a decent chipper. I’ve never really practiced putting like I should. I used to show up, hit a big bucket and go play. Now I’m working on everything, with an emphasis on putting. It’s slowly getting better.

My wife just started playing this spring. She’s been taking lessons. She’s terrible, but she is having a great time.

I don't understand the appeal of living on a golf course
Yeah, pro's & cons. The subdivisions are almost always higher end, and well kept. If you're a golfer, having access to a course that close is wonderful. But fuck living on one of the holes & having your house beat to shit by hacks on a daily basis.

It is going to get UGLY next week at Oakmont. Look at this fucking rough :tearsofjoy: And the greens are rumored to be running14-15 which is ridiculously fast. I dont see anyone shooting under par for the tournament.
