Agree that one strike can make a difference. I strongly disagree the spinning elbow that didn't even drop Gus was not one.

Conor's one straight left to Aldo, THAT is one strike that made a difference.

Please do not tell me you think that Jones' spinning elbow is the same level as Conor's fight ending straight left against Aldo.

Further more, would it be fair to say that Chael Sonnen's stand up strikes and ground and pound on Anderson Silva were more damaging than the one spinning elbow from Jones? I say yes and look how that fight ended.
They aren’t the same thing. I said it the way I did because you said that you don’t think one strike can give someone an advantage, so I brought up the clearest example that it can, which is Conor vs Aldo.

I think we are disagreeing as to how much that elbow affected Gus. That’s okay.

I scored it for Jones originally but I've changed my mind. Gus dominated 4/5 minutes of the round and hit Jones with some prety good shots, messing his face up. And where do we draw the line at 'almost KOd?' Jones never dropped Gus and most of the follow up shots were blocked. It was a big moment but not big enough for me to cancel out Gus' work in the rest of the round entirely.

So you can protest all you want, but it's not an easy round to score.
I just watched it. He wasn't blocking much. He got his ads handed to him from that elbow on. It is a testament to his grit , will and toughness that he didn't get finished.

I still gave Gus the fight because I gave him the first three rounds.
that is how I scored it live and when i watched it again each time

the 49-46 jones pisses me off...but I thought Gus did enough to take first 3

4 is close for me, but I tend to give rounds to the damage dished and the biggest shots...Jon's elbow is hyped up too much IMO, but it did change momentum and was the biggest shot of the round...although Gus was turning it On until that moment in the 4th could see 10 -10 easy(but judges never use that)

who cares though....spilled milk

I think we're finding some common ground.

What I am saying however, is at best, the elbow to Gus was subjective. Some feel it was enough to win the round, some feel it was enough to win the fight, other's feel it wasnt' enough and Gus should have won. I feel it was probably the best strike of the fight, but enough to call him the winner, no.

What's not subjective, is Conor's straight left against Aldo. There's no gray area there. It was an undeniable advantage. No one is suggesting that fight should have or could have been a draw.

But Jones/Gus, SEVERAL people on both sides think one guy one, and many others such as myself feel it was a draw. Again, the one elbow is subjective at best.

I don't determine winners based on subjective, I base it on undeniable advantages.

I get that, but I do disagree on the subjectivity. Gus was badly hurt, and that showed in his performance for the remainder of the fight. Jones winning the 5th round was the clearest round in the fight.

I thought Jones won in a close fight.
You've got to take it from the champ, I didn't feel Gus did that.
Not only that, Gus was the only one that was in obvious trouble at any point in the fight.
I haven't seen it in its entirety since it happened but that's how I remember it.

I would have liked to see all of Jones fights where everyone got to cheat too.
The closest we probable ever got was undrrsized TRTitor who almost took his arm home.
Juiced Cormier murders Jones, juiced Gus murders Jones.
His whole career since Stephan Bonner is an asterisk.
How do you feel about Forrest beating Rampage for the title?
