Coaching my team today and got a chance to meet Claudia do Val.... She's an absolute darling person, we had a chance to talk for a while, may try to get her in for a seminar soon.

I went to a seminar she did here in Greenville earlier this year and it was great. Good spider guard stuff.

Should be competing end of next month in Portugal at the Lisbon open. Good warm up for the euros again

Real life got in the way so haven’t been able to compete as much as I would have liked but still grinding on mats as much as I can. Good to be back on the forums too :)

Best of everything Brotha. I have a lot of friends competing out there this weekend, next year I'm looking to do all the big LV and LBC events. Breathe, relax, be cautiously aggressive, and be first.... Can't wait to see that podium picture of you rocking that gold medal, throwing up TMMAC gang signs, and calling @Splinty and Wild @Wild pussies

Lost the qualifier 4-1. Good match, he was just better. Disappointing but I'll be back.

Good work getting out there. 50% of the people at worlds lose their qualifier. You will notice the next time you compete at a smaller tournament your nerves will be less noticeable.

Way to go bud, proud of you for going out there
I'm not sure on some of the scoring still. I had a Kimura from half guard locked in and swept him but landed out of bounds. We reset standing so I think I got an advantage?

Was it a full submission attack or just a sweep? If you swept and ended up out of bounds, that would be an advantage point for you and a reset in the middle.... But if it was an legit, cranking submission, it should be 2 pts for you and a reset in the middle.... At least that's my interpretation of the rule, not sure if it was updated at the beginning of the year.

I had it cranked up behind his head almost with the intent to finish. The sweep was secondary and I was a little confused when the ref out his hands on us to stop. It's all good though. Great experience and I'd love to come back next year. I also want to hit up a High Rollerz tourney real soon.

About to watch Gonzaga go.
What division is he in? Next year I'm going to go out to compete and I want to see who else in in Master 3... I know Babalu is in my actual weight division, but I'm also going to give that Open Weight a shot, so I'm seeing who all is in that class

Master 2 ultra heavy. Our head coach was in his division. Lost his second match. These guys are huge.

Got bronze at the Lisbon open and then went 1-1 in the absolutes. My only team mate was fighting at the same time so no footage unfortunately.

I will do absolutes every tournament I ever medal in, those comp match experiences are invaluable in my opinion. Also it’s good because you will come across a lot of different styles and body types. Personally I feel my style is suited better against bigger guys, in my division almost everyone is a guard player, a lot of double guard pulls/ attacking the footlocks for advantages so you don’t have to come up until the end (or at all even) oh and 50/50. The bigger guys just let me pull and then try smash lol

I competed in Rome this weekend. Gold at the Rome Open (gi), gold in the European No Gi and silver in the absolute. Pretty happy with all that :)

Also saw my man crush Murilo Santana.

First tourney at blue belt today. I'm masters 2 LW, the one guy who signed up pulled out a week ago. They put me in the adult feather weight amd the guys were around 20 each. I hoped my man strength would be enough to make up for experience but it wasn't my day. Took home the bronze and a black eye, I'm ok with that.

My son took his first loss of the season. It was in a tournament and he was competing for 1st. He lost by points.
The other kid clearly outworked (outclassed) him. By the end of the match my kid had a bandage and coban around his head and a rhino rocket up his nose. This is high school wrestling, ffs. Can a mom throw the towel in?

I'm already nervous for super Sectionals.

I'm going to try to talk him out of wrestling next year for my health and well being. Lol
