The two are not even close to comparable.
Most casuals don't even know who Khabib is.
I don't even agree that Khabib was making a mockery, just that he made an unwise choice that cost him, his opponent, the organization and fans.
I think it's a stretch most of the time when I hear than line from pundits, sometimes propagated by an angry org. rep. who passes the phrase along with a shoulder tap.
"He ate wot m8?
He's making a mockery of the sport!!!"

Besides, Khabib wasn't defending anything.
The issue wouldn't be there if Conor would defend ANY UFC title he's acquired.

I do think Khabib has earned the disdain of fans. I'm tired of his unprofessionalism.
Conor quadruples that squared.
But at least he shows up and fights wherever he's supposed to and performs well.
Simply not a fan of hooting and hollering being the image of MMA.
Debacles are one thing(like Miller/209 brawl).
Advertising it and laughing as it occurs like BLAF routinely does is childish and deserving of rebuke.
Disagree. MMA is a shit show. Always has been and always will be. Conor doing this is just putting more eyes on the shit show of MMA but it's at least showing that one of the top guys is willing to challenge himself in another sport against one of the all time greats in that sport.

But if someone wants to pretend that MMA is dignified then they should be pissed that CM Punk had a fight and that retirees like Wand, Chael, and Fedor are headlining over legitimate champs like Chandler and Lima.

It's all a mess and all ridiculous with some legitimate competition thrown into the mix.

Like Dana, he's making a mockery of mixed martial arts, diminishing the spirit in favor of brash & bucks.
And the fighters suffer, the divisions are held up, and the glory that should be held by the accomplishments and promotion of other skilled athletes does not occur.
With him gone, things will get closer to where they oughtta be.
what if more people turn to MMA because of him? You know that's gonna happen too right? I mean it's gonna be seen by more eyes than floyd/pac probably

Right.
Not necessarily good, obviously, imo.
Surely if you're a promoter, it's great; more snow in the driveway.
Quality over quantity imo.
I know what's gonna happen in everything ;)

I have to watch every fight....mailbox vs. Tree trunk, horny toad vs couch, dada vs. Kimbo, Conor vs. Floyd....
I'll tell you what's gonna happen.
Manny Paq will call out Conor, Nate vs. Conor will occur, then Nick vs. Sapp.
All hell's gonna break loose...
