...unless that was a bot that was from the website....you see how I think?
could be, but even still i was about breaking even at that point. What ended losing me the money, was messing around with different tournaments, and losing them repeatedly. The next time i put cash on, i am going to stick to the small stakes open house tables. those tournaments are a mugs game, as far as i can see.

there was one hand, where the only way he could beat me, is if the dealer drew a K on the final card, and it happened, so that kind of pissed me off. but i put that more down to luck of the draw, then anything more surrillicious
did you get him all in on the turn? you've gotta make it expensive to draw to those hands

sure thanks. i also think it's about getting used to the system, and having the confidence to put your money down, whilst knowing when to cut your losses.
Sounds like my sex life

I just won a 2 round tournament 6 hands each time, with a 1.1 million prize pot, on the free poker site. I seem to be good at free poker, but pretty crappy when real money becomes involved... thanks

you these chips are like matchsticks, they are by a free poker site and you can't redeem them for jack squat. I need to put some more real money up, but i want to get this job on monday, then pay the bills, and what i have left over, i can gamble with...

Playing free poker will make you worse. I live in in the US so I don't know how poker sites have evolved since black Friday, but you should be able to go thru your hand histories to find it. If you post what the action was on the hand I'll give my thoughts on it.

Before black Friday here in the states I used to play for a living, going thru hands with others was probably the biggest learning source for me

thanks truck, i also think it's about getting used to the system. the free facebook poker, gives me the buzz and thrill of the hands, without actually losing anything when i go in.

i am going through quite a difficult patch at home right now, and i lost $24 on poker stars last night, so i want to leave it at least a week before i put any more money on.

I think it's not just about playing the cards, although that is an element sure, but also playing the people. You have to demonstrate that you're not afraid to meet their bets, and then hope they will call yours, when the right time comes.

I also think that it's about getting a feel for the cards.

I am the kind of person who likes to go all in at the end of the night, regardless of my hand, so this can be a folly and it can be favourable. Depends on the cards.

I do need to upload my verification id however, cos i think that will support my odds, at least it can't hurt. Thanks/

Seeing hands is important, but you'd be better off playing the smallest stakes possible for real money. The biggest skill in poker is being able to see how a guy is playing & putting them on a range of hands they'd act as they did with. With play chips, the range is only limited by the possible hand combos with 52 cards in the deck. I transitioned to PLO, that's my fav game, but when I first started playing it was hold 'em. Preflop, I'd raise any suited ace, kick, queen, any pocket pair, any suited connecter, etc. I'd only bet certain hands on the flop, turn & river. If I played the same online today I'd get killed, but back then you could do it even at mid-stakes & not get your predictable play exploited too often. Being able to see how aggressive a person is & putting them on a range of hands for each action is the most important thing, & how often a bluff is in their range & how likely they are to bet it.

I'm sorry you're going thru problems at home, but I think you're approaching the game completely wrong. The less you think of it as money, the less you feel like going all in at the end of the night, the better. I've played millions of hands online & it worked best when I thought of it as a puzzle. Every decision has a wide range from great to horrible, with a lot somewhere middling the two extremes. Even when I played tens of thousands of hands a day & reviewed as many as I could, I'd only find a couple every night I thought I played perfectly.

The key to poker is figuring out which hands you think your opponent would be doing what they are currently doing with, & acting accordingly. With play chips, figuring a range of hands for an opponent is nearly impossible

I always felt like 99% of the people at the free tables were clinically retarded 17 year olds, that just pushed all their chips in every hand. Pretty hard to get better playing under those circumstances.

one time during edgar/aldo 1 at a bdubs, I got the little game device & bet a friend of mine I could turn the 2k play chips you would get allotted then into 100k play chips in a few hours playing play chip poker among the other patrons. won the bet in 35 minutes with the only strategy of going all in with great hands & folding everything else. that's impossible aside from incredible luck in even the worst real money game
