The left is enamored with the idea that by changing vocabulary you can change how people think. It's a subset of their foundational belief that human beings are entirely products of their environment and can be (re-)programmed.
It's why they get so butt-hurt over IQ studies and crime statistics.
What they can't wrap their middling little brains around is no matter what euphemism you use for shit, it still smells the same.
