This is so damn true, most doctors don't seem to give a flying fuck If you recover or not...one of the most overrated professions.
The prestige that the job gets also makes them act like they know it all....and you gotta respect them...but once they run into something they don't know, they get frustrated like teenagers...though you can never question their judgement. Like they are holy men or something.

I think he was suggesting that they see themselves as holy men. Kind of like how Fauci doesn't refer to himself as a doctor, but as 'The Science".
Possibly but Doctors are certainly more important and needed then most other "overrated professions". We live in a society that worships actors, sports stars, internet celebrities, dancers, singers, ceo's , Wallstreet, bankers...

If you go to a doctor with anything but a common problem and they can't figure it out, watch what happens.
And when they do finally figure out, but you have spent thousands on useless treatments they just say meh, whatever.
In the process though, if you question their diagnosis you will be labeled a difficult patient...and they will avoid seeing you like they owe you money.
They have zero accountability.
Anyway I'll get off my soap box, and just say to you, don't get sick. And if you do get sick, let it be something that goes away on its own. If it's a complex autoimmune condition or anything unusual, you are fucked. It could take decades to get diagnosed.

I'm sorry it sounds like you had a bad experience. But the generalization is simply not true.
Doctors are great. But the majority do have a god complex. You only really see it when you question them.
Our GP's ( general practioner) here are living their best lives. Still mostly diagnosibg over the phone. Sighing and tutting when you insist on coming in. I had to threaten to report them earlier in the year when my children had a cough for 3 weeks and they kept saying it will go away. They needed antibiotics. Withing 6 hours of taking them surprise surprise it had gone away.
They are on massive money. And still do private work. But they are immune to criticism.
I would say over, thanks to the ridiculous rules set up thanks to covid, 90% of the population have a gripe about doctors and how they are using the virus to spend the day playing solitaire on the pc and telling people it will probably go away in a week or so.

Alright there is definitely those like medicines sans frontiers who genuinely try to help people. I refer back to that meme that was posted...a neurologist who makes $350k per year, sitting in his office thinking he is the second coming of Jesus...is he really "the hero".
