He has had to back out of numerous fights over the last 3 or 4 years due to health issues (mostly injury).
I see he's the #1 contender per the UFC and a few other ranking orgs are we sure he's not being held back due to his religion?

Tony Ferguson has won 9 in a row in the UFC, and has faced higher caliber opponents while being more active.
Khabib is now known for backing out of fights as much as he is known for being a high-caliber fighter, which is saying a lot because you don't get much more special (at least in ground control and overall grappling) than Khabib. He's one of my favorite fighters, but he's not a champ because he can't make it to the octagon. His religion has nothing to do with it unless praying 5 times a day is bad on the knees.
Injury, injury, injury, and he's missed weight twice including his most recent fight that had to be cancelled because he was so sick from the cut. Add in the fact that he can't fight near Ramadan and he's just too inactive to really stake his claim.

Thanks for that and to everyone else who pointed out the ducking/back out of fights thing, I only just as in tonight started following him cause I was looking for a reason to get back into following MMA.
Now Ill have to see if you guys were telling me the truth or a slightly biased version.

Not ducking. He just gets hurt. It's the story of his career thus far, and in his last fight he dropped out the day before because his liver (I think) shut down during his weight cut. Check out his last appearance on the MMA hour. You'll see how big of a concern it is.
Its pretty fucked that they cant schedule the cards he fights on to avoid Ramadan, Ramadan is a pretty big deal in Islam. Pretty disrespectful IMO
They easily can, and have. I'm just pointing out that he's operating on a reduced schedule. So if he has to pull out in the spring he can't fight until fall once Ramadan has passed and he can get in a camp.
Ramadan is less than a month, cant be that big of a deal. Most fighters would take a month of for rehab, family, PED loading etc etc IMO
I'm biased as a motherfucker that goes with out saying but he simply does not have the explosion to get in on McGregor without ateing a skip back left hand that will send him the promised land, if and its an enormous if he can get Mc to the cage and get working its trouble/gravy depending on your politics, but my unbiased analytics say that's a negatory.
