Isn't that strange?another bonus to hunting is everything is free range and organic
I always clean out the gizzards of grousse for preperation to cook. Always the same green matter in there they ate with the little pebbles.another bonus to hunting is everything is free range and organic
Mmmmmm, grouse.I always clean out the gizzards of grousse for preperation to cook. Always the same green matter in there they ate with the little pebbles.
As the OP explains, Trophy hunting is simply the act of taking a trophy from an animal you've harvested for its meat and has nothing to do with killing for sport. Also, in Africa they do eat all of those animals.I really enjoy hunting. I can be in a tree stand in about 15minutes from my house. I have passed up far more deer than I have taken. I hunt for several reason but the biggest is I just love the peacefulness of being in the woods. I only take deer that I am going to eat. Same goes for rabbits, quail and pheasant. Coyotes have become a big problem here in the midwest so allot of farmers kill them on site. I have no issue with that as they have become over populated.
Trophy hunters bother me. I don't like killing just for a mount or in some cases killing just to kill. If you want the mount then donate the meat to a charity that feeds people that need it and would appreciate it.
With that said, I do not see the thought process on why someone would kill certain animals(elephants, giraffe, even big cats)? Are you going to eat a elephant? No, so there for you are killing just to kill. Makes no sense to me but as long as people are following the laws of the land I can't really complain.
Those are the 2 acceptable, and legal, reasons for hunting. If you're doing it just for the sake of doing it, not only are you not right in the head, you're a criminal. What acceptable reasons can there be for hunting? Food, pest/population control and......I can't think of anything else.
If you kill animals for the sake of killing, you're not right in the head.
I think the same of fishing. Hook an animal in the face and pull it around until it's exhausted? Not much of a "sport".
Their lips aren't part of their face? Those are the 2 acceptable, and legal, reasons for hunting. If you're doing it just for the sake of doing it, not only are you not right in the head, you're a criminal.
You don't hook a fish in its face, you hook its lip. Where it doesn't have nerve endings. It also has no idea what's happened once its back in the water. Just goes back about its business.
I personally wouldn't fish for trout unless I was going to eat it. You're also generalizing things that apply to certain species to the entire class of animals.Their lips aren't part of their face?
Studies have shown that trout have feelings in their lips.
Other studies show that fish most certainly are aware of their experience once they are released. They usually don't feed for a while and some even die from shock.
If I'm honest, I'm kinda confused that someone would argue that fishing isn't cruel.
No, that was you:I personally wouldn't fish for trout unless I was going to eat it. You're also generalizing things that apply to certain species to the entire class of animals.
You know what, you're absolutely correct. Bad job by me.No, that was you:
"You don't hook a fish in its face, you hook its lip. Where it doesn't have nerve endings."
I explained that at least one type of fish DOES have nerves in their lips.
No idea, lol. I don't have much interest in African hunting. I know that's one of the big misconceptions about African hunting though. The meat is often donated to the nearest village.WTF does an elephant taste like(don't say chicken lol)? I know people have eaten tiger. My dad said he ate one when he was in Viet Nam. It was different. Meh, I still can't see myself eating one.
I guess if you are starving which most of Africans are you'll eat about anything. No idea, lol. I don't have much interest in African hunting. I know that's one of the big misconceptions about African hunting though. The meat is often donated to the nearest village.
It's pretty common. You eat what you have access to, the rest of the world doesn't factory farm like North America does.I guess if you are starving which most of Africans are you'll eat about anything.
Yeah, I doubt they're serving it in the cities. Maybe McDonald's.I had no idea they ate these animals and I've been to Africa but it sure as hell wasn't a safari I was on lol
I don't think that's hypocritical. Fish is deliciousI love to eat fish and I enjoy fishing so maybe it makes me a hypocrite but I eat what I catch. Nothing better than fishing with a fire right by you to eat the fish you catch right there on the spot.
Only reason I wouldn't would be due to size.I love to eat fish and I enjoy fishing so maybe it makes me a hypocrite but I eat what I catch. Nothing better than fishing with a fire right by you to eat the fish you catch right there on the spot.
Waterfowl you say?The are I live in was strip mined big time in the 20' until the 70's so we have lakes like crazy around me. Some of the ones I have fished are over 130ft deep in spots. There are some scary big fish in those holes. Mostly catfish that deep. Big sons a bitches. The lakes have crappy, bluegill, large & Smallmouth bass, walleye and a little carp. I'll start a thread later tonight with pics of where I fish and a park they built around a bunch of them where you can run/bike/walk. Tons of geese and ducks as well.
