Left is losing it's mind saying this is to protect billionaires. Weird they forgot about the 600 minimum reporting changes from a couple years ago. They were going after the little guy.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The IRS is drafting plans to cut its workforce by as much as half through a mix of layoffs, attrition and incentivized buyouts, according to two people familiar with the situation.

The people spoke Tuesday on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to disclose the plans.

The layoffs are part of the Trump administration’s efforts to shrink the size of the federal workforce through billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency by closing agencies, laying off nearly all probationary employees who have not yet gained civil service protection and offering buyouts to almost all federal employees through a “deferred resignation program” to quickly reduce the government workforce.

A reduction in force of tens of thousands of employees would render the IRS “dysfunctional,” said John Koskinen, a former IRS commissioner.

The federal tax collector employs roughly 90,000 workers total across the United States, according to the latest IRS data. People of color make up 56% of the IRS workforce, and women represent 65%.

Already, roughly 7,000 probationary IRS employees with roughly one year or less of service were laid off from the organization in February.

"ThIs Is To PrOtEcT bIlLiOnAiReS" is *such* a retarded outcry, and only a mental midget would spout it.

As of google just now, there are 756 billionaires in the US. Total.

Comparitively, according to Statista, just under 60% of US households make $100k or less. Also according to google, there are 128.7 million households in the US. That would extrapolate to roughly 77,200,000 HOUSEHOLDS (not people...households) earning $100k or less.

Which group of people would you need more IRS agents for - literally a few hundred billionaires?

Or the 100+ million that make <$100k?

Fucking morons.

That 600 minimum and even the 2500 minimum for this year is a pain in the ass for those of us that do any sort of sales online for a side income. Let's say someone makes 1000 they will have to pay around 150 in taxes and only take home 850 they will also waste time and money filing what ever form that is which is not a regular W-2 which you can do for free online. Back in the days if we made 1000 online you didn't have to report it.
