So people who won the belt are not really a champ unless they defended it? No wonder we have interim belts :) No wonder they ran with those belts. It doesn't matter how many times GSP beats Serra, he still did what very very few could do. Look at GSP's reign and that should tell you Serra was every bit of a champ as any of them.

If you won a fight that resulted in a belt, you are the champ, period. Now if you just had your belt given to you, that is another story. In a time we have countless interim belts, lets at least acknowledge the real belts. Cyborg could've been there to get that belt but she was too big, so that is on her. That fight took place to safe that one woman division for Cyborg.
GDR isn't a real champ because she ran away and vacated it.....yeah she won a title but she is far from being a champion. I'm not sure what the argument regarding Serra is, I agree with what you're saying, I did say he won the title fair and square, but winning that title shouldn't be all inclusive to a HOF induction....you have to look at Serra's body of work and it's far from HOF worthy.....again, taking nothing away from his winning the title

I think it's about time Weidman's right nut @Weidman's right nut confesses that the real reason he started this thread was because his hero is morphing into Cowboy Cerrone...

:grinning:

Seriously, Cowboy called out Khabib after beating Meideros. I doubt Cerrone gets that fight and I think it would be bad news for him if he did, but once again it speaks to Cowboy's competitive nature and his eagerness to take on all comers, even the killers.
Love me some Chris Weidman

You need someone with the meanest guard game and take down defense around to beat Khabib.....

Tony vs Khabib is the first time I've been excited about a Khabib fight in a LONG time.

No disrespect to Khabib the man is pure talent

No, not Brock. I don't think beat Randy and splitting with Mir and losing badly to Overeem and cain is a hof career bro.
Helped grow the sport at an unparalleled rate. Is second on the HW title defense list, and saved the UFC 200 card for the UFC.

Regarding the Overeem fight specifically I'm always somewhat amazed at how willfully ignorant fight fans are about the events that surrounded that fight.

If Bonnar was a HOF, Cowboy should have clinched that spot already before retirement

That was in the good old days where they'd schedule the drug test to make sure you'd have time to get clean before taking it. Brock did his (and passed) Ubereem literally took off out of the country and if memory serves pretended he couldn't speak English. He did fail a test shortly after that fight though.

When Frank Shamrock's not in the UFC Hall of Fame, but Stephen Bonnar is, I think that tells you everything you need to know about what merits induction.

Yes. Total HOFer. Also would like to see him in Diaz 2 and maybe Conor. It's not like he will defend title. PPV on Conor and Cerrone would be great. Make this man some good money.

How you gonna mention willful ignorance in one post then talk about Brock passing a test while Reem dodged it?
