I think there was a book on how presidents actually act behind the scenes with the little people that supposedly can't do anything about it. According to the secret service Carter was the worst and the one that was putting on the biggest fake portrayal of being a kind person. He would also make a show of carrying his own luggage which was really an empty suitcase.
That would be an interesting read.
