Joe Warren will return to the Bellator MMA cage in a co-headlining spot against Sweden's Sirwan Kakai on Friday, September 16th.

Bellator 161 has its co-main event, and it features one of the promotion's most famous faces. In a press release written on Wednesday, Bellator MMA announced the addition of former featherweight and bantamweight champion Joe Warren against UFC veteran Sirwan Kakai. The card will take place at H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas on Friday, September 16th.

Warren (13-5) was violently suplexed and then choked out cold by prospect Darrion Caldwell in the Bellator 151 main event in Thackerville, Oklahoma. If you're into purely coincidental and utterly pointless facts, Warren's last three losses -- to Caldwell, Marcos Galvao, and Pat Curran -- have all occurred…

Joe losing it in that fight where he didn't seem to know where he was scared me.

I hate to say a fighter should hang it up, but I don't want to watch that shit.

As someone that can't stand Joe, one of my favorite things in MMA is watching him get knocked out or thrown on his head. That said, I agree that he should hang up the gloves. I don't want to see anyone take damage like he has.

He got choked unconscious. That feeling of needing a few seconds for your brain to reset after it got shut down happens to anyone who lost consciousness.

Having said that, this is a good test to see where he's at right now. Kakai just lost a close fight to Baby Juggernaut Joe Taimanglo, so a win here puts Warren back in contention.

I just can't bring myself to get hyped for this event. It isn't shaping up nicely . Main event could put people suffering from insomnia to sleep.

I hope I'm wrong.

Are you referring to the Pat Curran fight? Or Alexis Vila? Both of those KOs were pretty brutal. The Curran fight should have been stopped a tad sooner IMO, he was done before getting flatlined.

Me too.

But in case they are boring, remember that Anastasia is also on the card
