So, it's been a month since my Dad got me the GTX950 Extreme Edition from Gigabyte. There was a promo if you buy any of the GTX950 cards where you get Kaijo Diablo from Heroes of the Storm video game, and I never received the email confirmation of that even though I currently have the card installed on my system. After an hour on the phone talking to 3 different people about this problem, they finally send me to a supervisor. Talk to him for about 10 minutes he comes to the conclusion he cant get me the promo.. keep in mind that it's only like 15$ worth of in game purchases. I downloaded the game, and bought this video card over EVGA's version which is the FTW edition because I got that promo and the performance is a little better. He asks what he can do to make it better, since he can't get me the promo and it's Amazon's fault. Told him about why I got the card and what they are for etc.. he offers to pay for the SSD, Ram or Case I wanted, I asked if he could hook up PRIME instead but that would have been a hassle for him.. ended up going with the RAM..

Craziness I tell you.. I went in just wanting the promo, not expecting or wanting anything out of it and getting 82$ worth of ram. Stellar service and pretty fucking awesome. I'm floored by how amazing they are at customer service and how they go above and beyond to help. Just wow. If you're not using them or have PRIME.. I'd have highly suggested it before tonight.. even more so now. Thought I'd share the amazing customer service experience I had.

That's a pretty sweet deal. Are amazon charging for delivery now for you as well?

The Mrs worked for Amazon for last years holiday season and I got to overhear many of these types of calls. Amazon really does go above and beyond to accommodate. She was actually commenting how $82 worth of any comps is pretty good man. They usually start off by offering a few free months or prime or something.

At any rate, glad you got it worked out. I love Amazon, they truly cater to the hermit/introvert crowd. ;)

Yep I agree Amazon is pretty awesome. Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

This is good to know as amazon lost my mothers Xmas present this year and left me scrambling at the last minute

It's an hour to the closest town with a best buy.. So yeah, newegg and amazon along with tiger direct are my go to for pretty much everything outside of food and immediately needed gear. I asked for prime but he said it would have been a hassle for him so i said the ram.

I wasnt even trying to get anything other than the promotion that never showed. Just wanted kaijo diablo for heroes of the storm. Was drinking beer and explaining to each person what the deal was. Didnt yell, wasnt angry just genuinely telling them what was up. Amazon's always done right by me and they went above and beyond this time.

Have always had impeccable service with Amazon over the 14 years I've been shopping with them. Have had prime since it came out, worth the money. It's genius on their part really, I'm paying them an annual fee to shop with them more. That's why they are taking over the world.

On the other hand, I think their company culture and treatment of their employees is mostly shit and do not enjoy the fact that they have changed the face of a city I love without any consideration for the consequences and impacts to the people of that city. But, 'Merica I guess.

Seattle is turning into a monstrosity. And it's because of Amazon. They've hired so many people and have their HQ DT, new buildings, new high rises to house all of the employees and driving real estate and rent prices out of control, traffic is 10x worse than it was when I moved away 4 years ago, etc.

It's sad really. Every time I go to visit, the changes are exponential and the city doesn't even look the same anymore and the vibe is definitely gone. Bums me out. It's why I didn't end up moving back when literally all I wanted to do was move back there.

They run a veritable slave farm of temps for their warehouses.

Excuse the dramatic headline, but its a quick Google. There are plenty more.

The Life and Death of an Amazon Warehouse Temp

Essentially a race to the bottom for low paid temp work. No phones allowed, no where to put your stuff, 30 minute lunch, not stop running to "pick" items, shit pay, no time or place to nap at work, so spend half your lunch going to your car if you want to call home, take a nap, etc.

Complain and they just kick you out.

It's not just amazon, but it is a hugely shitty warehouse fulfillment culture that drives other business out, but does it on the back of a social safety net it doesn't pay for.

Who pays for these peoples healthcare? We do.
No job security, no ability for promotion, no competition to work for if you don't like it.

I think the average tenure at corporate type jobs was 2 years for equally shitty culture. Around Seattle, it's sort of a known thing. Some people love working there, I have friends who work there and have no issues. But I think there is a good chunk of folks who've had bad experiences.

We do a lot of business with Amazon and accessing one of their distribution centers is like trying to get into the White House. The security they have in those places (for their employees) has to be on par with the CIA. Worried about people stealing shit. I mean, I get it...but that has to be a morale killer for anyone that works there. They're basically saying "We cant trust you, you piece of worthless shit".

How do they live?
Really? Took the one exception out oy entire post? Napping matters when forced to do rotating shifts, essentially jog lap for 4 hour spurts, and then not get an hour so you can a break offsite or even your car.

You've completely mischaracterized the post.
