Fucked up

Place to build houses

Heard Rogan talking about this the other day on his podcast

A firefighter had said that with the right winds and conditions much of the city could burn down

I have no trouble feeling bad for the people in the mountains that got fucked up by hurricane Helene or other odd situations like flaming Hawaii because who expects that to happen?

But it's getting to be a struggle to find sympathy for a burning California, tornado riddled Midwesterners, hurricane stricken coastal areas, or snow/ice related issues in the Northeast.

This shit happens semi-annually, figure it out or leave.

The snow in the northeast doesn't really seem to fit with the rest of your list IMO

Why they allow houses to built in the canyons is ridiculous. The Santa Ana winds burn them down every few years!

On an order of magnitude, as a single event, no it doesn't.

However, there are still plenty of people who lose their bearing and freeze to death a less than a hundred yards from their own homes. Combine that with fatal car accidents because everyone forgets how to drive every time it snows, and extended power outages leading to further loss of life, the overall body count is much higher than it should be.

I'm sure kvr can comment, because in the short time I lived in Maine, people getting confused and freezing to death was a shockingly (to me at least) common occurrence.

In a huge snow event the grocery stores are empty in a 3-5 days, gas/diesel stores get depleted, little old ladies can't get their oxygen tanks, people that rely on electric heat die in outages, hospitals fill up because you can't ship patients out and supplies aren't coming in.
People start getting weird and selfish when they realize this.

The struggle is real.

CA is crooked af. The entire town of Hesperia shouldn’t have been allowed to be built either. It sits below an aqueduct that’s built on a hillside as well as in a flash flood zone. The state sold off land easements decades ago as there was originally supposed to be a second parallel aqueduct but they ran out of money. Then the developers were allowed to build the town.

S3 of Goliath goes into a Hollywood dramatized version of another crooked water deal that actually happened. The actual backroom deal happened in Big Sur between water districts & rich citizens & a crooked CDWR state employee who was looking to pocket millions of dollars.

There’s been managers at field divisions that have let golf courses pump out of the aqueduct. Who knows what they got on the backend but they never even got fired. Shits ridiculous

This is pretty much the northern part of l.a county in the hills or mountains.
those of us at sea level away from the mountains are not in danger we are more in danger of the gale force winds that are happening those knock down trees onto houses and cars. I cant even see the fire where I am at 40 miles away from pacific Palisades and "the valley" the only effect it has in me is the bad air quality from the smoke.

The truf. I don't live near any canyons and we have never had a fire ever in this part of L.A county or in the south bay area of L.A.

The California situation is easy to figure out just don't build houses in these fire prone areas like the mountains but they build then anyway for the view rich folks are all about the view.

These aren't poor peoples homes these are mansions in Pacific palisades or the valley soros doesn't exploit rich folks nor would he gain much in going after these burned mansions.

L A county is enormous most of the city residents as a point of fact have never even seen a wild fire in their lives in person. I didn't even see a wild fire in person until I went to SD in 2007 as part of my job.
