Doesn't Machida train with Nick Curson? Curson is always talking about how natural his athletes are, but most of that was aimed at allegations towards RDA. I bet this one was a kick in the nuts for him.

I'm really bummed about this
For those of you who know me, know I dont get emotional over any fight, or fighter, win, lose, test dirty, test clean, have bad interviews, eat kittens, admit to crap, in, out, over, pulls out of fights, whatever!. I love mma/kickboxing but love it all and all fighters but when Machida and Mirko get busted on banned crap... Damn damn damn, that hurts my heart beater...

I like Machida too, so I would reserve full judgement until all the facts are out. Same goes with Mir.

Fuck.

At least admitted to it, and no lame "tainted supplement" excuses, even though that may have got him off the hook it seems.

Dan Henderson calling Lytoto Machida a ppiece of shit on Facebook goes a bit far, especially knowing that Dan had aid from daddies little helper himself for years, illegal or not.

Lyoto explains fight cancellation

I'm here to tell you that I was caught by surprise by this news. It has been very dificult for me. I've trained a lot for this fight, I've dedicated a lot with all my team mates. I want to tell you that I really didn't know about this substance, so I listed it on my declaration form amongst everything else I was taking, and this substance was recently banned in 2016, so I take the blame for not knowing that, and I'd like to say I'm really sorry and apologize to my fans, team mates, and my family... I always try to play by the book, but unfortunately this happened.

Damm, not sure if Machida deserves full blame for this. I like to see somebody interview the director for USADA and ask if they give out notices every time a substance is banned. If USADA doesn't then they deserve some of the blame.

This make me question USADA's communication with fighter or maybe they did and Machida didn't acknowledged it. The next few days should tell us a lot more.

This sucks, in terms of messing up the cards for the fans, but it's great as it's cleaning up the sport. If cerntain fighters get caught and are cheating they don't deserve to fight.

USADA is doing their job and I like it. I enjoyed Machidas clean counters and set up finishes in the past, but if he is proven that he cheated, then the finger pointing should go towards the fighter not USADA.

I'm not sure if this is a great reference, but if cops are giving tickets left and right for drivers that are speeding excessively then the problem is not the cop it's the driver breaking the law.

In terms of fighters safety USADA is one of the best thing that could happen. It will make most fighters watch what they are putting in their body's and while no test are perfect it's a great direction to catch the cheaters.
Yeah now we have a bunch of lab coat poindexters and keyboard warriors who never ran a mile in their life telling professional athletes what they can and can't take to get through 8 weeks of physical hell to prepare to fight a trained killer. All under this retarded idea of an "even playing field", which would never exist even if all the PEDs in the world spontaneously combusted, because no two athletes have the exact same genetic makeup and physical attributes.

Two guys fight, one is dirt poor and the other guy is rich - rich guy trains full time because he doesn't have to work, can afford the best nutrition and training from the best camps, poor guy works a full time job and trains when he can grab a few hours, eats like shit and trains at a high school gymnasium with a trainer who went 2-6 fighting in KOTC 10 years ago. Is that an "even playing field"? Nobody would bat an eye.

Fuck USADA and fuck the UFC for getting with them. In the span of about a year they took the athletes sponsorship money (reebok deal) and also hired a company to fly around the world and harass the athletes and remove their ability to make a living for years at a time. What a joke. I wish people would cut it out with their naive ideas about what's cheating and what isn't. Professional athletes should be able to avail of the best medical science can come up with just like anyone else.

Very very interesting. If it was recently banned, that changes a lot.
I'd like to know the communication between usada and the fighters regarding banned substances

Banning PEDs in the closest thing we're going to get to an "even playing field," so that it is pure athlete vs pure athlete, with only their training, experience and genetic make-up separating them. It's like it was meant to be -- the oldest, most purest sport of all, fighting -- as it was in the caveman days, as it was in Rome, with none of this synthetic foreign shit people are polluting their bodies with. Hopefully with enough fighters getting caught and strict penalties, they will be convinced the juice is not worth the squeeze.

Let's say we did have PEDs; you're just inviting an entirely new set of problems. You take a guy who is already physically superior, he takes PEDs, and he's frickin' Superman. So the guy who's physically inferior is always playing catch-up. At least with natural athletes, you might have one style prevail over another, or an experienced guy with better technique but who sports a belly beating the well-conditioned muscle-bound dude.

And as far as money goes, there are plenty of poor athletes getting involved in MMA these days. Every week or so I read a story about a poor kid from the streets getting taken under a trainer's wing. We're going to hear more of these stories and that's great. But say money is an issue. Then that means the rich fighters get to buy designer steroids and hire some PED guru to manage it, while the poor fighters buy their dirty shit off the street, cut with god-knows-what.

And how do we regulate steroids? Do we tell fighters they have to stay at a certain level? Do we tell them which steroids they can take and what they can't? Do we test in competition or out or both? If we test just in competition, what about the guys who blast their levels up and then bring them back down or taking masking agents? It's all possible. Read this interview: **Long read** Extremely insightful interview on PEDs and the athletes that use them with a PED dealer, who has ties with Olympic gold medalists and champion boxers Juan Manuel Marquez and Jorge Arce • /r/MMA

As they say, it's just a slippery slope we should not go down.

And thats how you own up to a PED failure.
