My first trip to Tucson I seen a javelina on the side of the road. Freaked me out. LolCan't see shit but probably best to make yourself big and be loud so it runs away. I did that with the javelina that was chasing us down and it turned around and ran off!

lol, underrated commentAfter interacting with modern feminists, he's just glad he went on a hike & ran into a mountain lion & not a woman.
Those dudes are nastyjavelina
I would like to say I would have shot in the air once and then at its feet but truth be told when you are actually in the shit all plans go out the window and I most probably end up killing the thing exactly the way he didI hike in mountain lion country all the time and have still never seen one. I've always wanted to though. As for the vid, I would have tried to scare it off, retreat if possible, and shot and killed it as last option.
They've all seen youI hike in mountain lion country all the time and have still never seen one.
Oh yeah, I'm aware of that. Saw some massive tracks in the spring snow last year in the Columbia River Gorge. Was an eventful hike, got turned around in the snow and had to posthole it till I could find the trail. Then on the way down was taking a leak, heard a rustling behind me, was probably a bird or little critter, but after seeing seeing the tracks I was pretty alert, and got that mini scared/adrenaline dump when I turned around. They've all seen you
Preach it.After interacting with modern feminists, he's just glad he went on a hike & ran into a mountain lion & not a woman.
I don't know how this is possible. I've done some backpacking in Glacier and saw some from a distance, but not sure if I could ever get comfortable out there, especially for overnights in a tent. Maybe if I grew up there, but I would take a cougar encounter over a big ass brown bear all day.Lions scare me more than bears and I live in grizzly country.
I doubt you have had any trouble with Lions either, if you have please tell the story,SoCal Mountain lions are dangerous. They’ve attacked mountain bikers and have little fear because you can’t carry in the state parks in California.
I have never had trouble with bobcats because they are trying to avoid contact.
There was a fatal attack in March near Sacramento.I doubt you have had any trouble with Lions either, if you have please tell the story,
They are the perfect killer and a human is completely helpless against all them teeth and 20 razor sharp claws packed on an all fast twitch muscle frame...but they really don't come at a human often, it is so incredibly rare for how many times they see them. That said I did carry .357mag on my job site when I realized a mom with cubs was gonna be sharing the valley with me and scoping me out daily as I worked.

I hear all thatThere was a fatal attack in March near Sacramento.
The attacks I was referring to were in Whiting Ranch back in 2004 and 2020. That is my home trail before I moved from SoCal.
You are right that they are rarely fatal. But an attack by that kind of cat is dangerous. Even if not fatal.
