Can't see shit but probably best to make yourself big and be loud so it runs away. I did that with the javelina that was chasing us down and it turned around and ran off!

My first trip to Tucson I seen a javelina on the side of the road. Freaked me out. Lol

F’n pigs! In the city. wtf is wrong with you people? Lol

I love the food, the scenery, the hiking and exploring, and the people out there though! I want to do Phoenix and Sedona soon.

I was kind of thinking that I'd try a warning shot to scare it away... but that would probably be stupid because it would be so fast that trying to get a kill shot after that if it charges would be difficult. Plus, it's probably for the best that he took it out if it was that daring to be so confrontational with him face to face, it's only a matter of time before it jumps on the back of someone else.

After interacting with modern feminists, he's just glad he went on a hike & ran into a mountain lion & not a woman.

Those dudes are nasty

The other day I was sending my brother pics of my camping trip because he loves camping and he happened to be in the border of Peru and Brazil for one of his businesses and hunting giant Javalinas with some of the locals.

The jungle there is soooooo dark, these huge black monsters pop out of nowhere and can seriously get the jump on hunters, they are vermin so unlike this beautiful mountain lion its KOS

I hike in mountain lion country all the time and have still never seen one. I've always wanted to though. As for the vid, I would have tried to scare it off, retreat if possible, and shot and killed it as last option.

I would like to say I would have shot in the air once and then at its feet but truth be told when you are actually in the shit all plans go out the window and I most probably end up killing the thing exactly the way he did :(

didn't look that sickly or starved
weird it was getting that close(had cubs?)

I have seen a few in person but mostly just tracks, and one has kept it's eye on me for months at a time when I was working alone in a remote valley(it had 3 cubs, but I never saw that one only tracks).

They've all seen you
Oh yeah, I'm aware of that. Saw some massive tracks in the spring snow last year in the Columbia River Gorge. Was an eventful hike, got turned around in the snow and had to posthole it till I could find the trail. Then on the way down was taking a leak, heard a rustling behind me, was probably a bird or little critter, but after seeing seeing the tracks I was pretty alert, and got that mini scared/adrenaline dump when I turned around.

Lions scare me more than bears and I live in grizzly country.
I don't know how this is possible. I've done some backpacking in Glacier and saw some from a distance, but not sure if I could ever get comfortable out there, especially for overnights in a tent. Maybe if I grew up there, but I would take a cougar encounter over a big ass brown bear all day.

SoCal Mountain lions are dangerous. They’ve attacked mountain bikers and have little fear because you can’t carry in the state parks in California.

I have never had trouble with bobcats because they are trying to avoid contact.

But Javelinas are open season because they are such a pest. If you are in an area that allows shooting, outside city limits in Arizona, New Mexico or Texas, you can shoot as many as you like. But the pigs have gotten smart and know they don’t get shot near town.

I doubt you have had any trouble with Lions either, if you have please tell the story,

They are the perfect killer and a human is completely helpless against all them teeth and 20 razor sharp claws packed on an all fast twitch muscle frame...but they really don't come at a human often, it is so incredibly rare for how many times they see them. That said I did carry .357mag on my job site when I realized a mom with cubs was gonna be sharing the valley with me and scoping me out daily as I worked.

There was a fatal attack in March near Sacramento.

The attacks I was referring to were in Whiting Ranch back in 2004 and 2020. That is my home trail before I moved from SoCal.

You are right that they are rarely fatal. But an attack by that kind of cat is dangerous. Even if not fatal.

This noodle-armed little faggot was able to choke one to death after it attacked him. If he can do it, a 70 year old Asian grandma could do it, too. A Mexican Abuela would drop a mountain lion midair with one of her flip-flops.

I hear all that

I was just saying you don't encounter bobcats or have issues because they don't engage, same as Lions. They just don't want us, they can take us out if they want.
