If Conor McGregor beats Eddie Alavarez at UFC 205, he’s now prepared to give up one of the two UFC titles he’ll have won, just as long as he actually gets the chance to win them first.

There’s no question that Conor McGregor wants very badly to become the first concurrent two-division champion in UFC history. While BJ Penn and Randy Couture have both held titles in different weight classes for the UFC, neither man was able to hold two belts at once. on November 12th Conor McGregor could be the first.

Of course, achieving this feat has meant more or less abandoning the featherweight division to its own devices. Since becoming the champ at 145, McGregor has fought twice - at welterweight, for some reason - and the division has crowned a new, interim champion in his absence. The…

What are the odds that Conor rocks the very hittable Eddie, drops him, follows up, and the ref jumps in super quickly even though Eddie appears fine and is attempting to cover and get back up?

Calling it now, the ref (more than likely herb dean) will call an end to the fight after the initial glove touch.. stating that "Eddie was absorbing a brutal amount of punishment"

It's abuse of position. If the UFC was a legit organisation it would strip him. I just cannot understand allowing someone to run away from an entire division to achieve something "nobody ever has". Others could do it if they were allowed, for example, oooo I dunno. José Aldo? He wanted to. Barao. Also did. History now but the UFC essentially blocked them

This is what people won't understand. If mcgregor wins, people will scream from the roof tops about how mcgregor has done something no one has done before. Of course, he is awarded the opportunity. Others wanted that opportunity, but were denied by the UFC

I hate myself for posting in a mcgregor thred, but anyway. This whole argument about McGregor wanting to hold two belts etc is just bs for his fans. Here's what' s really going on:

- He doesn't want to cut down to 145 anymore.
- He obviously gets some extra cash from his contract if he's a champion.
- It also adds to his prestige to be considered a champion.
- So he wants to fight for the 155 title, and once he has that belt he can vacate the 145 belt and still get all the advantages a "champion" gets.

We all know fuckery is afoot in the eddie fight, as we all knew what the result of the decision between him and nate was before it was announced. And since I'm opening your eyes today, Dana doesn't want the Diaz - McGregor fight to happen again because he knows that Nate would ask for a bag of money, and he'd rather have people fight on their current contracts + ppvs from now on when they fight mcgregor. That's why he threatened Eddie he'd fight Khabib and Eddie accepted to fight at his current contract.

If you want something else cleared out feel free to ask :D

They can't strip him for holding up the division because they are the ones booking the fights.

Past that now though. It's a marketing ploy for him to say that he's a two division champ...that's it. Kind of stupid to me

Can we please stop talking about him. It would be just like The Simpsons episode when the advertisements came to life. Once people stopped paying attention, they all went away.

Look. I like cmac fine, but calling him a 2 division champ would be a promotional tool at best.

Don't worry. Herb Dean isn't Dana's lap dog.

I'm still trying to figure out how squeaking out a decision against a guy nowhere near a title shot gets one for you. Of course he was also awarded his FW title shot off of a win over the illustrious Denis Siver.

It'd be cool if he won both belts, although he was fast tracked to the lw title shot. I won't legitimately consider him 2 division champion until he defends both belts.

You have to admit it's bullshit he hasn't had to defend the fw title yet.

Also, never forget...

No. Calling him a 2-division champ would be calling him a 2-division champ, something that has never been done simultaneously in UFC history.

That was just the first part of my statement because i was trying to be nice. The other part would be, "...and a bullshit farce at its worst." :D
