And as I said back then, him and Mayweather should set up their own cage.

UFC has outlived it's usefulness.

I guess McGregor is:

A. never coming back

B. never defending his belt

And the UFC needs new stars... bad.
I went from growing up loving combat sports back in the 90’s - early 00’s to completely tapping out of the whole scene. I couldn’t really tell you who the contenders are anymore, besides the big names.

It's called Prize Fighting for a reason.

I’m fine with that, but I’ll go off on anyone who calls Conor the GOAT or best pound for pound or anything like that if he takes big money fights instead of defending that belt.

He'd have to be an idiot to not take big money fights. Nobody cares about UFC belts.

Again I’m fine with that, and if that makes him the richest fighter then great. But he’s the richest, not the best.
Agreed. But he should set up his own cage with Mayweather and really get rich. The real dough is in promoting not fighting.

I haven`t seen more than one or two of his UFC fights bit I was surprised by how competitive he was with Mayweather. He impressed me.

I think it's great he has leverage over those greasy fuckers now.

"You see, this guy is fuckin crazy, he loses to Diaz, BARELY beats him in a rematch, he goes out and tries to box and loses to a fuckin retiree, which is why we never allow our fighters to go compete in other sports, and now he wants us to co promote with his shitty brand..... Are you fuckin joking? That's not how this works, good fucking luck Buddy... Hey, how about defending any of your fucking titles. I mean, this guy would fucking lose to Ronda Rousey, our most popular fighter EVER, and thinks he can come in, after losing his last fight, and think we'll co promote.... I mean not even Georges St Pierre, our most DOMINANT champion has ever asked us that, and he owns fucking Canada. It's Not happening... Not happening... Mark my words, not fucking happening"- Dana White (as dictated to Kenny Florian)

That's a big problem with Boxing.

Too many belts, too many champions, too many weight classes, too many fights all over the world in odd time zones that you can't always get access to, etc etc...

The UFC, while I'm fine with them bringing in another weight class, is starting to put on too many events on too many continents. I understand they want to grow the sport, but if it becomes like Boxing, it'll become way too in-accessible. Being an educated fan of Boxing is a full time job, you can't have other interests and you have to train to really understand the sport too.

If they hit the key areas, USA obviously, Brazil, Canada, and have some events in the UK, Ireland, Australia, Germany, Poland, I love it, but they'll never be able to keep the attention of fight fans, even hardcore ones if they put to this many events in every corner of the world. This is a huge reason why Boxing isn't the king of Combat Sports anymore, why, after their worst fight PPV fight they needed an MMA fighter to bring eyeballs too the sport again.

I'm not the type to say I told you so, but....
I have been saying he would never fight in the UFC again for months now.

Maybe he should start his own promotion, after all that worked great for Nick Diaz.

Strip this clown, release him, and let's move on already for fucks sake.

This is great, and it's JUST. Good for Conor not being the typical chimp dancing for peanuts that the UFC loves.

Conor brings in big bucks and he deserves co-promotion. Hopefully he takes them to the cleaners.

UFC contracts are iron clad. There's a likelihood that he wouldn't be allowed to set up his own cage without their consent as he's under contract with them and it would make him a competitor. Even if he could set up his own cage, there's a 0% chance he'd be able to fight.

Wait and see how these next PPV cards do. The next 3 are looking pretty damn good. But if they don't get buys then it really shows how much the UFC needs Conor & they'd be silly to not let him in

He's under contract to the UFC (to the best of our knowledge) if he chooses to compete in MMA, but there's always boxing, where the Ali Act comes into play.

Fully agree. The post I made, and the one I was quoting were regarding him setting up an MMA promotion.

Understood, but that's also assuming that his contract wasn't renegotiated prior to the Mayweather fight, which it may have been. Either way, he appears to be holding all the cards if the UFC is banking on him for a big pay per view card at the end of the year.

I think the reality is that they've both created an atmosphere where one can't exist without another.

while i agree with you on that. There should be no reason 217 doesn't puuuuull. I'm not saying it will beat any records, but should be one of their best #'s in 2017.

Prior to the sale, I would’ve have bet my house that Dana wouldn’t allow Conor to be a co-promoter. He wiuld release them before he allowed someone to have that kind of pull. With the current state of the company and the new owners being on the hook for Billions, who da fook knows what kind of shit show the will allow.

"McGregor (21-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC)"

In 10 fights he turned himself from a broke nobody into the richest and arguably most recognized MMA fighter in the world.
That is absolutely amazing.

I look forward to seeing if he can kick as much ass in the corporate world. Given what I've seen, I wouldn't bet against him.
Unless its a boxing match against Mayweather. :)
