You can find HEAVY elements of Metropolis (Gottfried Huppertz )in John Williams soundtracks, particularly Start Wars and Superman.
Close Encounters has some beautiful totally original pieces.
I also hear Michael Giocchino copies Gottfried Huppertz with elements of the movie "Up" and others.

That movie is full to the gills with bullshit, but is one of my favorites. The score is awesome.
