I'm not against prescribing drugs to the mentally ill but it seems like we are overprescribing or these individuals are mixing non prescription drugs or alcohol and driving themselves nuts. We need to look deeper into this. Roll some heads.almost all of the shooters that have made the news were on Prescription Mood Drugs, I haven't seen it confirmed yet that one wasn't on them
We got rid of shop/trades and then wonder what to do about the kids who can't sit still during college prep classes.I'm not against prescribing drugs to the mentally ill but it seems like we are overprescribing or these individuals are mixing non prescription drugs or alcohol and driving themselves nuts. At least 15yrs ago now. Probably closer to 20Wtf?! When did shop go away?!
Some school districts still have it. At least in Texas. My daughter in law's dad. Teaches at one. It is in a small town. Nothing but a bunch of rednecks. At least 15yrs ago now. Probably closer to 20
Mid 90’s my HS had one of the largest ag programs around plus welding, woodshop, automotive, ag construction (electrical, welding, making raisin bin trailers, etc) plus ROP classes for those entering trades, corrections & other careers. That ended in mid ‘00’s.Some school districts still have it. At least in Texas. My daughter in law's dad. Teaches at one. It is in a small town. Nothing but a bunch of rednecks.
Damn dude. Even our basic welding classes you could get certs out of the way. Hell, weld shop would send kids to welding competitions.Sac school district. All that was left for a HS freshman in 84 was auto and wood shop.
There was ROP (regional occupation program) at certain schools, as in you went from your campus to THE campus that was all trades.
But it was shit like hair or culinary and the photo program I did.
It was all a joke.
There was no construction or electrical or fabrication or any real trades that could get you an apprenticeship.
SCUSD was a complete nightmare in the 70s/80s. I went to a HS built for 1,000 kids. There were over 1,200 just in my class alone. More portables than actual classrooms. 60 people in math, 150 in PE. SO had a gang task force substation on campus, 1,400 validated bangers at my HS. Constant daily combat. If you remember The Good Guys robbery/massacre, some of those were dudes I went to school with.Damn dude. Even our basic welding classes you could get certs out of the way. I’m in the sac area now, it does suck. With the exception of my sons charter school, a couple IB schools & a couple of the private schools the education is horrendous.
gone early 90s at the school I went to, so 30 years agoAt least 15yrs ago now. Probably closer to 20
This 1000 percent. We got rid of shop/trades and then wonder what to do about the kids who can't sit still during college prep classes.
Mine was mostly illegals or seasonal migrants on visa. We had plenty of gangbangers as well. Norte & Fresno Bulldogs were the two big ones but the Hmong were growing quickly & actively hunting black & Mexican gangs.SCUSD was a complete nightmare in the 70s/80s. There were just so many of us, the schools were overwhelmed. Everyone just got passed to the next grade. I knew dudes that legit couldn't read. It was wild. Most chicks in my grade only had 1 plan- get knocked up, get welfare so they could get an apartment.
It was fucked up.
