So Nate did answer a lot of great questions during a Q&A session towards the end of the seminar (hands down the best question asked was "Are there a lot of groupies after fights?").
@lueVelvet feel free to add what you recall.
Some folks asked him about any upcoming fights for him or Nick and it sounds like they're taking the rest of the year off, or at the very earliest considering something in December. He's very legitimately upset with the UFC based on how they don't market him well at all and how they focus on just a few of the popular fighters instead of building others up equally.
He said that his motivations have changed a bit at this stage of his career where he needs a good fight to be motivated to train and go through with it all but he did drop a little hint that he misses the whole training camp process.
Pac is still his favorite to listen to.
He'd pick a Ferrari over a Maserati
He told stories of how he got into BJJ and fighting in general and how much of an inspiration Nick is to him. You can see the admiration he has for his brother when he starts talking about him.
All in all, Nate was as real as people claim him to be. No BS. Much better spoken in person without cameras and mics in his face. When he relaxes the words come out much easier and smoother. His BJJ coach, Randy, was equally as friendly and nice to everyone there. There wasn't one frown in that place for the whole three-four hours we were there. Nate walked around, patted people on the back, laughed and joked with everyone. I spoke with him briefly on how awesome it is to see kids doing BJJ and his smile throughout the whole kids class was priceless.
I told him it was an honor to share a mat with him and both he and his coach looked like they blushed (maybe they were just being nice but I felt the sincerity). Away from the cameras, he's a truly humble martial artist that showed respect to everyone who showed up. I loved the whole experience and hope to do it again should he come around. Or any other seminar at VI Levels. Awesome school, awesome people and great facilities made for a magical day.
