Just purchased our tickets! Seems like a great place with a great vibe. I just wish it wasn't so far but I may have to swing by for one of the white belt classes. :)

It was a great seminar! Nate was super awesome as was his head BJJ coach Randy.

Also got to meet our very own @Rhino! One of the nicest folks I've met in Orlando yet! Thanks for the warm welcome to your gym!

Guess I will add my photos too...

After we got our (overdue) black belt certificates (with my Coach Jon Burke, Nate, Randy, and my brothers Baron and Ryan)....

Great day, great seminar, Nate is always funny and Randy is an awesome coach, and everyone in attendance was awesome.

Hell yes dude. Wear your TMMAC shirt, we'll mail you one to give him, ask him 5-6 cool questions, have someone record it, and have him say "shout out to theMMAcommunity.com" at the end.

BOOM!
He'd be surprised motherfucker.

Totally forgot about this. I was planning on gogo-ing @Rhino into unconsciousness, too.

Just joking, Rhino. I would've let go before you went out.

So Nate did answer a lot of great questions during a Q&A session towards the end of the seminar (hands down the best question asked was "Are there a lot of groupies after fights?"). lueVelvet @lueVelvet feel free to add what you recall.

Some folks asked him about any upcoming fights for him or Nick and it sounds like they're taking the rest of the year off, or at the very earliest considering something in December. He's very legitimately upset with the UFC based on how they don't market him well at all and how they focus on just a few of the popular fighters instead of building others up equally.

He said that his motivations have changed a bit at this stage of his career where he needs a good fight to be motivated to train and go through with it all but he did drop a little hint that he misses the whole training camp process.

Pac is still his favorite to listen to.

He'd pick a Ferrari over a Maserati

He told stories of how he got into BJJ and fighting in general and how much of an inspiration Nick is to him. You can see the admiration he has for his brother when he starts talking about him.

All in all, Nate was as real as people claim him to be. No BS. Much better spoken in person without cameras and mics in his face. When he relaxes the words come out much easier and smoother. His BJJ coach, Randy, was equally as friendly and nice to everyone there. There wasn't one frown in that place for the whole three-four hours we were there. Nate walked around, patted people on the back, laughed and joked with everyone. I spoke with him briefly on how awesome it is to see kids doing BJJ and his smile throughout the whole kids class was priceless.

I told him it was an honor to share a mat with him and both he and his coach looked like they blushed (maybe they were just being nice but I felt the sincerity). Away from the cameras, he's a truly humble martial artist that showed respect to everyone who showed up. I loved the whole experience and hope to do it again should he come around. Or any other seminar at VI Levels. Awesome school, awesome people and great facilities made for a magical day.

So rare and awesome when people you admire turn out to be good human beings.

A friend of mine works indy shows in western Canada(ring announcer and broadcast commentator) and spent a bunch of time with Nate and Nick at a card in, I believe, Saskatchewan. He said the same thing: when the cameras are off they are fantastic people to talk to and hang with. He was also frustrated that when the on camera stuff began, they both turned back into Stockton mushmouths.

Thanks for sharing your experiences @Rhino and lueVelvet @lueVelvet .
(love the cash only stipulation on the poster, I guess Nate's weed guy is still old school :) )

Yeah, the cash only thing is funny. The Medical Marijuana Doctor I visit for my license has the same sign in the lobby. And an ATM machine out there as well.

There really wasn't much time for that. There was a good number of us in the seminar and space would have been a huge issue if we had that going on. I was hoping for a Nate/Shaq 2 showdown but alas it didn't look like Shaq showed up for the seminar. :p
