His ankle is now heavily strapped, he may not return. That may put paid to his attempt to have the first 2000 yard receiving season.

If you watch the slo mo of the tackle where he got hurt, the guy horsecollar tackled him and trapped Tyreek's ankle under him with his body weight. Didn't look good.
Oh, and the Broncos is the last team I'd want the Dolphins to face in the playoffs lol. Too much motivation for revenge!
I'm still trying to figure out what he injured and how they diagnosed it? Have seen him go off after ankle injury before.
Taking the helmet immediately hints at head injury, but he never went to the tent and is wrapped up as you say.
Which is why I say they don't want to risk him, maybe he said something popped or doesn't feel right...and they are deciding to not push further injury. He did run off the field as you say, so he obviously would still have some speed...even as a decoy. It is interesting and confusing at this point.
I suspect they still can lock up the #2 if they lose a couple games down the stretch(tonight included), they just want a home game and want to be healthy for it.
Risky though as they don't look nearly the same without Hill or Waddle(has he returned?)
Waddle returned, Hill did play 2 snaps in the last series as well, basically as a decoy like you said. He didn't look at full speed.
EDIT: Hill just made a catch, he may be playing with a hurt ankle but he got open there.
