The reason why you keep him is you seen him coach well when he had talent. The blame is not with a chef for not being able to turn chicken shit to a chicken salad. You blame the person who bought the chicken shit.
Was that x's and o's or the jimmy and joes? ;)

They hit on some draft picks. Reader. Bates. Then they let those dudes go and - it looks like - whiffed on some picks. Newton. Cam taylor britt. And we had injuries (wilson) that exposed some bit players (pratt) that can only be used as bit players.

I won't even start on the colossal fuck up of signing Orlando Brown Jr since we are talking defense.

Who knows for sure but what we did see is again him doing well when he had talent. So is the assumption that you are gonna have better talent going forward or not?

If not than cool, fire him and keep being the low tier franchise you are because you dont plan on having good talent. Congratulations.

Bengals DC will get another job quickly IMO
He is highly regarded, or at least was. I don't think the Bengals have the defensive talent to be competitive and they had some injury issues I believe.

My source is Dave Logan the broncos long time Play by Play guy, he is very well connected.

I saw a lot of really poor tackling and plenty of bad coverage which was obviously part scheme, execution, and talent.

They had Denver shut down for almost 3 quarters and then let them back into it. Nix/Mims Jr deserves lots of the credit, but them bengals simply didn't make the plays when they needed to. Mims Jr had properly schemed coverage on both of his huge plays, players failed. If the Broncos didn't fail to execute on open passes it would have been an easy OT victory.

Good time for him to leave/move on/get fired, Bengals have a lot of decisions to make and need to build that defense up some more. Not sure if they can do that and pay Chase and Higgins both, which is interesting. They do have some of the best offensive talent in the NFL.

They had the 16th ranked D in their Super Bowl year. It's not like they were the '85 Bears.

Yes. My assumption is the talent will improve moving forward. Some of the existing younger players may become decent. Some may end up selling cars. But there is going to be so much money tied up in the offense, the defense will need to be good with young players and develop them quickly so they can have an impact before their 2nd contract rolls around. I don't know that Lou is that dude.

Dude, you are a Bengals fan and I watch a lot of football. With both know that curing the playoffs that defense was playing lights out. They were not playing at a middling NFL level when it mattered the most.

Also season long team stats are pointless.

They kicked ass later in the season for sure. And especially against KC when Lou schemed a way to confuse the fuck out of Mahomes. Not going to argue that.

Damn... imagine being the worst lineman on a squad with Orlando Brown Jr.
Amazing, huh?
Not to defend him because he was truly awful along with the rest of the group, but I'd be interested to know if these grades allow for the QB moving around in the pocket.

After Brown got burnt like a 4-year-old's marshmallow while making smores over a campfire, Burrow stepping up in the pocket only to find Cappa's guy right there happened a lot.
