You want that turd? Dude fucking sucks.
100% he was getting cut next year. There's no way they were going to carry that contract with how he played - especially considering the actual studs they need to take care of.

Pratt has played some solid ball in previous seasons, but I've never seen a LB fall off that fast.

Unbiased report from PFF (out of 189 LBS)...
  • 113th overall ranked LB
  • 143rd ranked pass rush grade for LB
  • 125th ranked coverage grade for LB
  • Missed tackle rate: 11.2%

He was slow. Bad reads. Couldn't cover.
Giant liability out there.

Real talk - I don't know that the Bengals will be able to trade him. There's too much film with him looking absolutely lost last season.
As I predicted - they weren't able to trade him.
Reports are they intend to release him.

This was the funniest "trade me" demand of all time.

Nix added a couple lbs of muscle? or lighting?

Broncos signed JK Dobbins to a 1 year deal
Now they have TJ Harvey, Estime, Mcglaughlin, Badie...RB room is looking stronger this year IMO

Per a source with knowledge of the deal, he gets $2.065 million fully guaranteed. He also has $680,000 in per-game active roster bonuses. The remaining $2.5 million comes from incentives based on yards from scrimmage.

Coach is pissed

Cut his entitled ass.

I'm joking of course - but those kind of comments aren't a great way to win over a working class town. Dude hasn't even played a down yet.

And I'm not even saying he's wrong. Bengals front office does like to "win" negotiations and they don't see it as a harmful practice. They create an us vs them mentality (ownerships vs players) with this bullshit. It's bad business. But so is going scorched earth on the organization before you've so much as put on a helmet. Keep that shit out of the media.

If he doesn't sign, can't he be drafted again next year and go somewhere else? I would consider doing that if I were him.

I honestly don't know.

If he could - and did - the Bengals would trade into the #1 spot and take him. Then stick to their guns on the outs on the guarantee just to make a point.

If anything - he's proving their point. Why agree to future guaranteed money if the guy proves to be a bust or an asshole? If you are on the team or are out for injury - it's guaranteed money. If we cut your ass - go play somewhere else.

It would be nice if the front office could sniff out divas before drafting them.

How is he proving their point?

I really dont think its a diva trait to stick to your guns in demanding what the #18 pick got JUST LAST YEAR by Cincy... even though he was the 17th pick.

This is all the Bengals front office being cheap fuckers that dont care about the players.

It's a CYA move for the organization. And who knows - maybe they didn't consider doing this until after they had a few convos with him and sensed his narcissism.

And going to the media and badmouthing the organization before you've even put on pads is 100% diva. He better be good - that's all I can say.

The other argument here is why in the fuck would any first round rookie not demand a fully guaranteed deal? The contracts are already a fraction of second deal for anyone above average.

And its not like a team can even pay you more until year 4... so you can argue the team wants an out if the pick doesnt pan out... but the player has ZERO recourse if they outplay the contract in the first several years.

I dunno... calling a shitty front office a shitty front office comes of more genuine than diva to me lol
You gotta earn that right.

I can do it because I've lived here for so long. Vets can do it because they've been through it.
FA's can do it because they have other experiences to compare it to.

You don't just Tim Waltz your way onto the team on Day 1 and bitch about shit.

I actually agree.

I think that after 2 years if a player has outperformed their rookie deal that there should be pre-set escalators that shouldn't count against the cap.

For studs like Chase or Jefferson who just come out the gate smoking everyone.

I don't know how you structure it or how you apply it to positions that are tougher to measure - but 4 years is an eternity in the NFL.

Average NFL career is 3.3 years.

I agree on escalators or something like that. Kind of like what the NBA has for Supermax (but that is for vets).

Like... if you are All Pro or Pro Bowl at your position, you get bumped up to like the average of the top 15 players at your position or something.

Gotta be a better way.... but the owners would never go for it.

I did some research.

Bengals aren't breaking the mold here. Apparently plenty of teams put qualifiers on guaranteed money. This diva is raising a stink because the Bengals historically haven't - but they elected to add it this year.

For an example of where the qualifier triggered a loss in guaranteed money - Jameson Williams, DET. 2023.
