General Official NCAA Football Thread (Ongoing)

The fact that schools get to pick any opponents is still ridiculous to me. College football still dragging its feet, refusing to join the 21st century.

Every legitimate sport, you get given a schedule, and you have to play it. You don't get to pick your schedule.
Pretty sure the ncaa as a whole does just that. The only difference being conference vs conference weeks for basketball? I’m not entirely sure now that I say that.

So UC Davis is an added bye week this year?
UW's schedule got utterly fucked by realignment. OOC games became in-conference games, the rivalry with Wazzu became something that needed to be saved and is now an OOC game, and some games just fell off. They're still a game short for the 2026 schedule, and finding an opponent has been an absurd process.

And sure it could be considered a bye week - most teams have a cupcake. Though not all have the balls to schedule 3 and slate one in November when needed most lol.

UW is going have issues until things normalize, which probably won't be for another couple seasons when they have a home-and-home scheduled with Tennessee.

Like khamzat wrestlefucking DDP… Some will say it’s a smart move.

It sure hasn’t hurt the sos every year. But you were correct when you said this won’t do much. The sec just won’t schedule a tough ooc slate. Which in my opinion hurts CFB it doesn’t help it.

F it. Super conferences here we come!

By the end of the year most top 10 strength of schedule rankings (weird how different sources have their own formula's) usually balance out. Preseason SOS ranking are among the most useless and pointless things in all of sports.

Going forward, the end of season lists will probably be mostly a mix of BIG10, SEC, and Notre Dame sprinkled in.

And yeah it wouldn't surprise me if we're headed toward super conferences. I think it will keep inching closer to the NFL model.

Week 3

Interesting., I know that buyout is steep but that’s a strong statement after last season.
He had an undefeated season right before and we have had no success since xmas tree jimbo 🙂 it would be short sighted to want to dump him. That said, if this season is trash too i think he will lose everyone. I feel like the consensus is to give him last year as a fluke if he gets it back. But I also hardly have my finger on the pulse being in seattle.

That drop-off was insane, though. I don't know if any school has ever done that before

Also, I think you meant an undefeated regular season. 🙂
