Oh yeah - all of Rudy (movie and personally) was / is a farce.

Then Notre Dame head coach Dan Devine was apparently actually very supportive of Rudy and voluntarily allowed him to dress for the last game. He like dRudy, therefore allowed himself to be portrayed as the bad guy in the movie as a favor to him. He (Devine) was apparently pissed when he saw the scene of the players handing in their jerseys as not only did that not happen, but he'd have kicked them off the team if they had.

Rudy doesn't have an asshole brother named Frank. Rather, it was just a character he made up to symbolize all the people that thought he could never do it. I wanna say I've read that his family was actually really supportive of his dreams to play at ND, unlike how they were portrayed in the movie.

Apparently guys on the team (both the actual team & the practice squad) at the time said Rudy didn't play nor try any harder than anyone else. I also wanna say even Joe Montana was telling people when the movie came out that Rudy was just a run-of-the-mill walkon...which must be saying something considering I've never seen Montana be the type of guy to badmouth people.

I guess the team carried him off the field as a joke to troll him more than anything - not some kinda team / stadium wide celebration.

Every interaction I've read about where people met him in person said he was a dick. I've literally not seen a good story posted about him.

I don't remember specifics, but after the movie came out, I think he was setting up shop near Notre Dame stadium, charging people to meet him.

He even got busted by the SEC (as in Securities & Exchange Commission...not the Southeastern Conference lol) for some bullshit pump & dump scheme and was ordered to pay near $400k in fines.
