I can't remember who it was, but Belcher brought in a leg lock specialist to train with him for his camp, and pretty much became a leglock specialist himself. Let me try and find it. I can only find an article on BJ Penn.com(uurgh), I read something more in depth around the time, but I can't find it. Basically be brought in Dean Lister and Davi Ramos to drill leglocks with him, starting him from bad positions etc. Dean even ran the camp for a while.

Absurd fighter nicknames are the best. Congrats "Detective" Shields, on getting your...shield?

Wtf am I doing, I'm sorry. It's been a long morning. Please don't ban me right before fight weekend.

"lol @ "Congrats 'detective Shields' on getting your....shield"

I think if people think back to guys with good grappling skills such as Dan Miller, Jeremy Horn, even Alan Belcher, people will be confident in Jake Shields, the guy who outgrappled Jiu Jitsu ace Demian Maia, will win.

Jake can win. He's an amazing grappler. But God help him if he fucks up.

If Palhares is smart, he'd try to keep it standing and knock him the fuck out imo. Dude has dangerous power.
What makes you say he has dangerous power in the stand up?

I honestly cannot recall one time Palhares has dropped someone in the stand up.

He has nasty kicks, and has dropped people with them.

Side note: I love slams. He has some nice ones.

I don't have a problem with Palhares jacking peoples legs up, or really trying to hurt someone. This is fighting for money. Its funny how people celebrate Cro Kop for dome kicking someones brains out of their head, but cry foul when Palhares busts a ligament or two. The only problem that I have with him is that he does the same to training parters.

Based on my question and your answer, is your stance a little less confident in his power after some thought?

No man, no disrespect to JS, but his striking game is not on the level it should be for a person who trains with great strikers. I get it, he's a ground wizard. No issue there.

But Palhares has dropped people with kicks. Jake shields' striking is a weakness and weaknesses are made to exploit in MMA.
