Awesome. My daughters taking a year off because she's burnt out, but she's been in competitive cheer for 6-7 years. Flyer as well. Crazy how much that shit costs. Honesty glad she took a year off so we can have a break financially as well.

Yeah no kidding. I told my wife I didn't even want to know the total cost. I'm expecting more travel this season so we've been scaling back on other bullshit spending. Lot of sacrifice in this sport.

That's awesome. Mine got knocked out first day lol, so my wife and daughter basically had a 3 day vacation at Disney. And that's why I'm glad she took a break. That summit trip alone was $3500. Then gym fees for a year is $5000. Then uniforms, make up, choreography, travel for other trips, etc, etc

It was killing us.

LOL, these international teams have chicks in their early to mid 20's. I try not to stare more than 10 seconds.

No more fish pond:( can't have an unattended going belly up.

On the plus we expanded our veggie garden.

Spuds, zucchini, baby cucumber for pickling, kale, purple heritage carrots, regular carrots, peas, NZ spinach, rhubarb, raspberry and strawberries.

With any luck we will get some apples this year. First year we got 30 and they were delicious. Rabbits ate the bark at the base of the tree so we didn't get any apples last year, had to pull one tree. This year we just had a massive wind storm. A few blossoms held through but have to wait and see.

K this is my second crack at the Maori hook I'm doing for bro in laws wedding gift. I've finished it once then found this glowing resin/epoxy that I just had to try. I filled the holes along the bottom and carved in a fern at top of the handle. In the process I ruined the finish do had to strip and restain. Learning curves right?

Waiting on some leather chord to come from amazon so i can do some lashing on the handle and base.

The glowing resin is really fascinating and pictures just don't do it justice. Some reason the camera won't pick up how much it glows. If you've ever seen phosphorus in the ocean, that's what it looks like. Also glows during the day as long as it's kept somewhere sunny.

Still not satisfied but I have until January 2018 to finish. Worst case scenario I build another and keep this one for myself which the wife says she has no objection. She's greedy and doesn't give 2 shits about her bro!

This is a typical, traditional maori hook with the rope lashings. I got the idea from the disney movie Moana which is based on Polynesian mythology. My wife's family is from NZ so this is right in their wheelhouse.
