That is the view out the window of my office at the country club I work at.

There are both.

I work at a coal fired power plant and we use limestone mixed with water to remove the sulfur from the exhaust. Once done, removing the water again creates synthetic gypsum as a byproduct which we then sell to wallboard manufacturers.

What is done with the remaining sulphur?
Is it pure?
