I have a live-edge walnut dining room table and I also spend a lot of time watching those build videos on youtube (Blacktail, four eyes, black forest.) A lot of those guys push ceramic finishes, even on existing wood tables. They seem simple enough to apply and are not terribly expensive but I am curious if it is actually worth it.

Do any of y'all have any experience with those nano/ceramic finishes?

Man I love wood-working.
I just had to sand down one of those fold-out birch tables that was virtually demolished.
I just stained it and laquered it, should've took a "before" pic.

They are extremely expensive and I’m not sure it does much of anything to harden the surface and prevent water marks, etc.

There are plenty of good hard-wax finishes that are food safe and extremely durable like Osmo, Livos, Rubio Monocoat, or Odie’s. I know for the most part that the ceramic finish is intended to go overtop of these but considering the price for a tiny a bottle I think it’s snakeoil.

I knew one customer that used it and he only put it in his extremely high end clients tables as a ploy to get just a little bit extra money. He never noticed a difference other than it seemed to dull out the overall finish a bit. He was using Black Forest Wood Co product. $189.00 for 100ml. Fuck that.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Much appreciated
