Its not that the ground is that black in the woods. It's that a few days earlier, some dipshit kid's bonfire got out of control, and nearly started a forest fire. Of course, I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT! But we did go hiking in the aftermath. That fire spread way further than we, or I mean they, thought it would. Especially considering it was fall, and the ground was totally carpeted by dry leaves. Luckily no houses burnt down.
Don't even get me started on the Reggie Miller incident. That's a whole nother thing.
