After nine years of dominating the airwaves of Southern California, our beloved KNAC ended it all with
Metallica's "Fade to Black" 28 years ago on this day! Although the radio station has since technically been resurrected under the name
KNAC.COM, even 28 years since that "fade to black" L.A. still has no radio station that could play anything you will not hear regularly or at all on the rock stations that were once rivals to KNAC (KLOS and even KROQ), including
Iron Maiden,
Dio,
Pantera,
Slayer,
Metal Church,
Testament,
W.A.S.P.,
Saxon,
Armored Saint,
Leatherwolf,
Suicidal Tendencies, just to name a few. There was and still is no better radio station than KNAC, and you know what they say, "Once you've had the best, who needs the rest?".
